Whatever you do, do not put race tires on the road. They are not meant for that and sooner or later you will find out why. They do grip well and will wear rather fast and need to be replaced more often. The major concern is that they have minimal tread depth, do not shed water well and will loose traction on a wet surface in a hurry. Racers change to wet tires for the specific reason that the dry tires do not handle well in the wet, and I am not talking just pouring rain, a wet track after a rain is dangerous with dry tires until it dries out. You will see race cars staying in second gear for laps on a wet track. I did a 360 on a straight with my Hoosiers in second gear with a gentle application of the throttle on a wet track.

I know that most cobra drivers swear that they will never take their car out in the rain, so it is not an issue. But, unless it is a garage queen, and therefore it does not really matter, sooner or later you will encounter a wet road surface and that can be dangerous for you and other drivers on the road. I'm done.

In my case, the only time I've been in the rain is when I have gotten "caught" in it; I did a nice 180 degree spin when I had the AVONS (without a scratch luckily) - those tires do not channel water very well (at all).

I never plan to drive in the rain but I have been caught off guard a couple times.. Fog can make the roads wet too. Cruising along on a nice warm night you can find yourself in sprinkler runoff or some other unexpected source of water on the street day or night. Best to ease through with no sudden inputs with the gas or brakes. I would avoid the GY Billboards...not DOT leagal for the street. And most definitely avoid the TA Radials for your cobra. I currently have the Avons and think they are great. Welcome!!

I switched from the GY Billboards to the Avons and I could not be happier. I think they look pretty good on Cobras.

Cooper Cobra's are about 1/4 the cost of Avons and are DOT rated. Running race tires on the street is not a smart move IMHO.

I honestly have limited success posting pictures. If I get them posted, they are usually upside down.

Try putting them into your gallery first and then after they have appeared there you can use the Linked Image URL just below the picture when the vBulletin website hosting s/w asks for the pic link. I have had zero success posting pics from normal internet addresses but 100% success with posting pics after loading them to my gallery.

I wish the Michelins were offered in a size larger than 225/70-15. I'm trying to decide what to use on my 427 street car with Sunbursts, but afraid that they might be one or two sizes too narrow.

I just put them in my gallery; there was an option to rotate them which i did...but I guess I didn't save the changes so they are still inverted. I tried to copy the link to insert here but it didn't take. Sorry for my ineptitude.

Had Goodyear Eagles but after 14 years (way over due) time to change out!
Avon’ s are pricy but my issue is they do not last long and can’t handle any moisture. (also not available in this area).

So Goodrich T/A’s are on and 245 60 15" fr and 295 50 15" rear.
Talked to my tire guy and 5-6 years should be max for change out.... although
I don’t track. So I was WAY overdue! Not many choices that are DOT rated.
They are a little slick at 48 degrees yesterday, but a little driving and they
work fine.

Just depends on your driving and wallet.
