Do your due diligence! I'm not saying this is a scam, if it is, you don't want to be the one on the loosing end! Better safe then sorry. If the seller wants a Western Union money order, that's a red flag! Good luck, hope it all works out for you! P.S., I have no desire to give you advise that will enable myself or anyone else to buy this car out from under you, I already have an ERA I'm very happy with.

The Western Union comment was just a joke.
I got an email from a SCOF member who said this ad is fake.

Even I was skeptical of the $25k price. Paying $40k is very realistic if you are patient. Many people have confirmed their purchase price around $40k and I have seen SPF's advertised for that price. One word of advice.... Don't post the ad of a car you are looking at. The SCOF member who told you the $25k ad was a fake was probably trying to buy the car out from under you which is why he knew the ad was a fake. There are many trolls, so be careful.

I am putting mine up for sale soon. We moved to Myrtle Beach a year ago and this is not a car enthusiast region. I miss the Bacc in Ca.
I have many posts starting from when it was new.
The Bay Area Cobra Club is familiar with the car and it’s condition.
Also, contact me on Face Book for 100’s of photos and comments.
You might have to friend me. You can also email me at Wanab5150@comcast.net if you have any interest.

25k smells like a scam. You can't even get a good factory five for that.
I would FLY out there, and meet the guy at a Police precinct, cash in hand, ONLY. Zero exceptions.
Remember certain states have extra 'premiums'- if you have SB100 smog cert in CA that's worth a good $5-10K on top.
And don't be afraid of a fixer upper if the foundation is solid- the SPF chassis holds up to a lot of driving with a few known wear items. This car gives me joy to work on vs. my last Chevy toy, which just gave me regret and diarrhea.

Hmm, the link shows the location as New York City, but the pictures look like the car is in a suburban neighborhood.
I don't think I would bring 25k cash on a flight across the country.
I once bought a car on eBay out of state and had to fly there. The seller met me at the airport with the car. We drove together to a branch of my bank. A bank employee acted as the notary to move the title to my name. I withdrew the money as part of the transaction and offered the seller cash or a cashiers check. I think the seller took the cashiers check. And then I drove the seller back to his house and drove home over then next 24 hours. The last part probably would not work for you since it would involve driving across the whole country.
Maybe you could find a club cobra member who lives near the seller to see if the car actually exists before getting on a plane yourself.

The more I think about this, it looks like a scam.
Let's say the seller is not aware of the value of the car, for example in an estate sale, then I think the listing would be much simpler, like "Gramps old blue convertible, I think its worth what I am asking". But with all of the details provider in the listing, a "real" seller knows what they have and what is it worth.
I would guess the car sold at some point in the past with the detailed listing information and now some scammer has copied the old listing to fool someone into sending a deposit for a car that they don't have.

So get someone to do a PPI... That'll show if it's real or not.

Before you proceed, call the seller and ask him to do a FaceTime call so he can show you And you can inspect the car in person while you talk on the phone. Then at least you’ll know the car actually exists and is in his possession. Then proceed with an independent Inspection. And don’t travel with cash. If the sale is legit, upon inspection and viewing the title and registration, use a wire transfer to complete the sale.

Dan, I hope this turn's out, to be true, I can still call (Adam is Adam) and ask for his help, as he lives in NY. I've passed on Don's SPF @46K as there are too many unknown's, Even though its a 940mile (2004 year) car (It does look brand new), all the seals, etc. could start leaking after just a couple hundred miles, and that open's a whole different can of worm's. Here's hoping for you, Cheers TommyRot.

Has anyone spoken to the owner/seller? This is obviously too good to be true.
The ad shows the car is in New York City, but the pics are clearly in a suburb. I live on Long Island and that house in the pics does not look like anything in the Northeast because of the driveway being concrete. I know I could be wrong, but most driveways are either blacktop due to cost, or really nice pavers when money is no object (or a combination thereof). And almost always with Belgium blocks lining the edges.
Maybe someone can somehow find the ad... wait... google is my friend.
BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!
https://www.classicdigest.com/cars/shelby/cobra/60743
This is the ad where this Craigslist ad was pulled from. And I KNEW that house looked familiar:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x-ZWaZE99c
It's the owner of Vanguard Motor Sales' house in MI (not in NY).
SCAM!
But hey, if you want, I can sell you guyz da Brooklyn Bridge.
(Tommy, I heard your vm msg. Happy to help any way I can.)

From Randall:
Dave, someone alerted me to this ad of 241 being sold.
https://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/a...209677790.html
241 is a long time SCOF member and I spoke with him on the phone and his
car is not for sale. It's sitting in his garage.
The ad is an old, old ad for 241 back before the current owner bought
it. There are very few bondurant cars, and 241 is one of them. 241 has a
427 in it as well.
Even so it should not be confused with car 1241, that car is a known
owner in Michigan, different color, different car.
There is no way that ad is car is either of the above. This is not a
guess. But made through actual phone contact yesterday.
Just FYI.
BTW, you can add these same ads to the list...

Well this 25k price inspired me to go bargain hunting. I just went on eBay and bid 25k on a Kirkham, but was immediately outbid and did not hit the reserve.

Cheers Adam, TommyRot.

I have to tell you, I impressed MYSELF! I'm not usually the best Googler
I just searched on the the sentence that seemed pretty unique (about who built it) and BAM, this other listing came right up. And what's funny is that as soon as I saw something about Vanguard Motors, I recognized his house!
Need to track down a car, I might be your man. Need to find that missing email from yesterday, call my assistant!

How about the Daytonas pricing vs selling price ? I have seen #s in the $150 to $+++ thrown around. Are there rollers or finished cars at lower prices ? F-40 in CT had a FFR Type 65/Daytona listed at $60K & I think it went to TX for a lower price. Anyone know the details/facts about this sale ?
