I suspect the continuing poor website login and posting performance has discouraged many from participating.
It took five minutes for me to login and get to this posting. Most guys don't have the time to waste, especially when the website forum can take an indeterminate length of time usually longer than five minutes. Last evening I quit waiting an went out with the wife. Three hours later when I returned my screen said the server had timed out ?!?!.
After a while, this kind of performance can discourage just about anyone.
More fuel to the fire:
This post went into never, never, land when I clicked Submit. These days I build the post in Word and past it into a Message Window on the site so when it crashes I can start over and past from my word doc into the website's Message window and try again.

The sever is not busy! The site software is out of date, and damaged/broken yet again!
When the post finally was accepted by the CC site software nearly 90 minutes had passed!!

Learned that one a while back. Got tired of re-typing the same crap over and over. Still, sometimes I forget and of course that's when the site bites my a$$.

In every case for me so far when I get an error on the first submit the submission actually happened, it seems it's the return to the topic flow that fails. When it happens to me I open the thread in a new window and the last post has always been mine (and if it isn't it's still in the "back" page of the first window.) I used to keep long posts in a backup document too...

I no longer have a Cobra. But as we're looking for something to talk about other than the pitiful condition of the website, I'll offer this. . . The exhaust system on my Cheetah was all designed by me. That included the mufflers in the 20" long, 4" diameter side pipes. I've tried nine different baffle combos trying to get the sound down without strangling the engine. None of them have made me happy. I've recently collected material for number 10. Simply described it consists of a 3.5" diameter steel tube with metal panels inside dividing the interior into three equal size spaces. Caps welded on each end will force the exhaust to go down the first space, back up the second space and then down the third space to exit. The caps will be sized to fit snuggly within the 4" side pipes to prevent bypass gases and minimize rattling parts. . . I'm hoping that tripling the distance traveled by the exhaust and separating it from the walls of the side pipes will help. But I've been wrong nine times before, so I'm not holding my breath.
My other long term project is my "box of parts Berkeley." As you'll see in the pic (not my car), a completed 1958 Berkelely SE328 resembles a two-thirds scale Cobra. They are tiny cars made of fiberglass without a metal frame. The originals were powered by 328cc motorcycle engines, so it will not be a burner. In fact they are so small and fragile I will likely never drive it on a street with a speed limit higher than 25 MPH. . . But for now mine is little more than a box of parts that need a lot of work. It should keep me busy for the rest of my car building life.

That was a random pic I found that shows the relative size of a Berkeley. If that was in NW Florida, I'd guess their sprinkler system washed down the fence finish with mineral laced ground water. If it was in Texas, it might have taken a direct hit from an armadillo fart.

A friend with a dealership that has a fondness for old British cars had a Berkeley. The engine was a 2- cycle motorcycle engine. I didn't get any pics of the engine the night it came in but it's pretty spartan.

Yeah, Tony. There's not too much to a Berkeley. The entire car weighs about 600 pounds and originally had a top speed of about 60 MPH. My itch to own one started back in 1960 when one of my uncles brought one home. I'm not trying to do a stock restoration of my box of parts. I think of it more like a rat rod that will resemble a Berkeley.
