Correction...two ears...not two full revolutions...my apologies. I had been hammering mine on way too hard when Dennis O showed me it only needs a couple of ears turn once it makes contact. You'll hear the sound change when the wheel bottoms out on the adapter. I've had #770 for 6 years now and never had a problem removing my knock offs or wheels.
No...I didn't record it, nor write it down... But, I've been privy to pretty much the same speech from Bob with at least four or five different owners who - for one reason or another - just couldn't get the hang of lefty-righty-righty-lefty. One poor fella...who shall remain nameless...worked for several months to remove a knock off with only a dead blow hammer! When another SPF owner visited him, he took hs own lead hammer and had the knock off removed in less than 15 minutes!
I sure miss Bob...he had forgotten more about these cars than most of us will ever know! He was truly one of a kind!

Mmmm...This is contrary to what I've been told, and seen on cars from assemblers like HRE, Snakepit, and his son Dennis' shop. I was told safety-wire to prevent loosening with a bit of slack, and check before every ride. Evidence of tightening requires a whack to the rear and re-wiring.
In fact, ERA has the procedure on their site: http://www.erareplicas.com/427man/wheels/index.htm

I always wire with a bit of slack so as to indicate loosening. That being said, I've never had a spinner loosen. As a matter of fact, if they're are left alone for too long, they become welded on.
