Will the big Billboard Goodyears fit on a MIII Superformance? Does it look OK? Thanks

Although I love the looks of the Goodyears......they are pretty squirreley for the first few miles + the car does not track straight on poor pavement.

Oh yea, they also pick up every little stone along the way. If you are worried about paint chips, you may want to re-think it.

Me, I'm not too worried

Would I ever go back to my old tires..............nope!!!

Ditto on the squirrelly when cold. After a few miles, they're OK. You also gotta be vigilant on the steering wheel. But they stick like glue, and if you line your upper fender insides with Thermotec CoolIt ar Dynamat, you'll be OK as far as pick up stones making star cracks on your paint.

I bought the set of wheels and tyres to track my GT40. It just so happens they fit the Cobra, and they look cool. Nothing beats these on the track as far as 15's go. Properly heat-cycled, they are predictable and would probably last 4-5 track days if driven not too aggressively. I don't use them on the street.

With the right alignment and wheel offset, you can fit a 335-17 on the back. I've seen several SPFs running 17's with 335 Pilots on the rear. I'm presently running a 10" tread/12" section width (sidewall to sidewall) 295-15 Dunlop and I still have enough room underneath for at least 2 more inches.

got 4 nitto drag radials size 315 x 17 for the back and 275 x 17 for the front. I got the 3m infinsashield on the rear quarter panels but should I worry about front tires throwing stones to side pipe or any other place?

Believe it or not, the most vulnerable are the tops (underside) of the fenders. The quarter panels don't get them at all. Line the tops of your fenders with 12" X 24" Dynamat, then spray the edges and surrounding areas with rubberized undercoating spray.
The drag radials pick up the stones and spit them out at about 11 o'oclock, right into the tops. a large enough stone and enough speed will create star cracks that are impossible to rub out because they start from the base of the paint layers. I got one on my old small block SPF and coudn't really fix it so I just put fender stripes to hide it.

I'm running Michelin Pilot P275/17's on the front and P335/17s on the rear. Nothing rubs on the back, but this wide of a tire actually rubs on the front. At the inside wall of the front tires, they rub on the frame rail that runs longwise on the car. Check out the pics in my gallery and see how great the 335's look on the back. (IMHO) If they made a wider rear, I'd put that on as I still have room to do so.
When warmed up, these things stick like crazy.

Where did you get those rear fender covers?? How do they attach on the bottom. I'm guessing they hook to one the top snaps on top

These are available from Superformance dealers. The bottom attaches with a lift-a-dot and you're right, the top uses one of the top ones. There's velcro to hold the fold over into the fender.

D-CEL,
I like "beefy" look of the 15" M/T tires. Any opinion or comments about them? How many miles do you have on them? What do you think the treadwear life might be? Any clearance problems with the sizes you chose? Handling properties?

Anyone else out there running this tire care to comment?

4K miles on my M/T streets, and they look like they will go maybe 12 - 15 K or more (easy street driving) even. They stick, and look perfect on the car (26" diameter). I like them.

These are very similar and actually same sizes as what I put on my previous SPF SB. Nitto Drag radials. Probably same or very similar compounds; MT is probably more politically correct but both probably minted in Thailand or Malaysia.

They are very dangerous in the slightest moisture on asphalt.

Hey Rodger,

Sorry for the delay, Ive been out of town.
The M/T's are still great. Ive been running them for a year and a half (since 5/15/05). My set has approx 6k on them and they show little wear. I suspect they will go 10-12k before they get to hard.

No fitment issues @ 325-50-15 rears, 275-50-15 fronts on standard Trigos

I recommend them every chance I get. They are not only a great drag tire, they handle fantastic. Every time I take a non-believer out for a drive thru the canyons they get out shaking thier head. They stick better than any street tire Ive ever driven. They track perfectly (no hunting) and break away smoothly.

In the wet:
I too thought they would be scary in the wet. I have been suprised to find that is not the case. In the limited wet conditions I have seen, they have been just fine. I have not driven them in water deep enough to test thier shedding capability, and I most likely, never will.

Get a set and try them, you wont regret it.
