Default Old style brakes

Does anyone know what the Ford front disc brakes which came on the early SPF cars came from/cross over to?

I have later #, but I think the early ones used Granada( not the Fox one, but the earlier version that had the Monarch and Versailles as sister cars) rotors. Have you checked www.performanceunlimited.com ? They have a tech section on SPF's and it may be listed there. If not, I'm sure Bill Wells or one of the early numbered car owners will pop in.

I was told Ford Granada, as described by Woodsy ..but have never checked mine to verify . Willwoods back then in the very early cars were an extra cost option, later made standard. Quite a few of the early cars supposedly upgraded for the extra cost Willwoods. Bill.

I'm not Bill, but do know that all the mid 70s to early 80s(prior to the Fox version) Granadas/Monarchs/Versailles used the same rotor. Just pick a year.I believe the Wilwood package is a complete Rotor/caliper changeover.

Default better brakes

I know I have to change to the new SPF caliper mount but the car allready has nice 11' rotors/hubs with new bearings. I wold like to mount these Ford Racing calipers if they have the same mounting spacing as the Wilwoods. Woddz428, I think you are correct about the calipers I have now. According to Motorcraft they fit 82 different Ford applications from 83 to 93. If I can find what other applications the Wilwoods fit, then I could see if the Ford racing will cross-over and swap, and if I can mount the new SPF bracket on my old steering nuckle (which I think I can) and use the same rotors. Then I would be happy ... but it's never that easy right?

I just ordered the Willwood upgrade for #569 from Dennis Olthoff. His kit does not have (and therefore I am ASSUMING they do not require) new rotors. It comes with calipers, pads, new steel braided lines and bracket. I am having them installed this week while I am up in Seattle. Can't wait to get the car back soon and see how they feel. They HAVE to be better than the Granada's even though I have never had any meaningful problems with the old ones.....but I never tracked the car so never needed real hard braking....YET....LOL

Gary,
If it's just a matter of swapping the bracket, calipers, lines and pads the job is a piece of cake. I think the new cars using Wilwoods are running 12" rotors. They are GM and you can get them locally. You may want to check with Dennis about this, but if he thought you needed them he would have included them in the kit right? It would not cost too much more to replace them while you are there. Please let me know how it turns out and the cost of the parts.
Thanks,
Tom
