Default Remote Oil Filter Location

I am going to be dropping a 427 SO into my Superformance---once it gets here. The engine comes with the remote oil filter mounted on the front of the block by a bracket supplied by the engine builder. The dealer noted that SPF's usually locate the oil filter in the middle of the front cross member, in front of the engine. Which location is better for access, maintenance, etc?

The Superformance location is MUCH easier to access from the bottom and won't make the huge mess the top "corrrect" location will cause, all down the front of the water pump.

I don't have a Superformance but I agree with Rismoes. I have mine mounted on the front crossmember and set so it is 1" above the lowest part of the oil pan so it won't hit anything. It is very easy to change and being in the open like that, I never spill a drop of oil.
