braided steel line for your oil pressure

Anyone have any suggestions on where to ge a braided oil pressure line for a SPF? Do they sell them with the fitting pre-installed or is it another custom hose job?

Speed shops sell them in pre-cut lengths with fittings attached.It's usually 4AN.

Gotta love braided line but at very least run copper tubing inside your cockpit rather than plastic tubing. I know there are a zillion cars running plastic but after getting sprayed with hot oil I hate it. Copper is many times more durable than plastic and we are talkin 10 bucks here, if just to save your carpeting get rid of the plastic.

MCOULTER - Some things to consider:
1. The braided stainless hose is very abrasive. Do you really want the equivalent of a pack of sandpaper under your dash rubbing around against electrical wires, etc.? You can get high quality AN hoses that are not SS covered, for example, here: http://www.amfmotorsports.com/goodridgeprod.htm
2. Go with AN-3 rather than a larger size. Easier to work with, especially in the tight space behind the dash.
3. One problem I had was getting the right adapter to connect the new hose to the back of the gauge. The Smiths gauge fitting is a British thread, 1/8 inch if memory serves. The amfmotorsports place has those, and will put the fittings on for you. Or, as others have mentioned, there are kits available.

Try these guys. Anthem Motors in Phoenix. They apparently sell kits comprised of all the required parts to accomplish this on an SPF. This is not an advertisement and I have no monetary connection with them. I don't know what the kit costs or if it is reasonable. Just thought I'd pass the information along. 1-i've had braided SS inder my dash on numerous cars for more years than i can remember with no issues.Do a proper install job and forget it.

2-Go as large as reasonable(AN4).Plenty of fittings(90s/45s/etc) available to make installation easy.

MCOULTER: Here's what I did to adapt my -4 braided line to the BSP fitting at the Smiths oil-pressure gauge. It took a while, but I found the correct fitting at a real tractor supply store. If the issue that CWizard brought up concerns you, use tie wraps to secure the wires and lines uner the I/P . . . as they should be anyway. Additionally, use a lighter nylon or Kevlar braided line, albeit, not as pretty, but it is just as strong, lighter and is "non-abrasive."

I used a 36 inch premade hose on my car from Longacre.I would suggest going to the next longest size as it barely reached in my ERA.I learned something from this thread,as well.I'm going to wrap my SS line with electrical tape......just in case.

AutoMeter sells a braded hose kit for pressure guages in 3', 4', and 6' lengths including the guage adapters.
