SPF Rear Exhaust
Does anyone have any pictures of their SPF with rear exhaust rather than side exhaust? The dealer I have been visiting says that the SPF can be ordered that way, but didn't have any examples. He did say the sound was much different...and the exit much easier for driver and passenger too. Thanks

Check my pics. I got them so my wife wouldn't burn her leg and hate the car. LOL
Plus, I do like the clean look

these look quite a bit like the factory set up on a MKIV. Put some insulation in wheel wells and run exhaust pipes over rear axles. mufflers have to fit under car (with heat retardant as well)

If you search the photo gallery for "Driver", I think you will find some photos of his gorgeous black SPF roadster.

Mike ~ I recall that car....beautiful. As I recall it was for sale at one time and he was running a very nice 302 in it.

I agree, it was/is a beautiful car. I almost bought it. I looked at it and struggled with the decision. Woke up on a Sat. and decided to pull the trigger. When I went to get his number, I found he had decided to take it off the market. I was bummed out.
I ended up buying a new black SPF but a SC styled car, 331 also.

The 3 SPF STREET version undercar rear exit exhaust cars i have seen have a very well done factory installed heat resistant insulated undercarriage due to the exhausts running under the car. The sound is different, the look cleaner . Those cars have a nice sound to it at wide open throttle take offs and a nice rumble at idle , quieter at highway speeds vs side exhaust counterparts . I assume the insulation from the factory is still part of the undercar exhaust choice .
The street cars can also be ordered thru SPF dealers without hood scoops or without roll bars if ya want an ALL original street version car look ....also , the hood if scoop is on it may not have the rivets with the scoop blended into the hood at its edges vs looking 'stuck on' with rivets like the S/C car versions . Scoops can be ordered either way .
It looks good, sounds good , is well insulated by the factory underneath. If that is what ya want , go4it . Bill

Custom Color Paint jobs are an option with SPF....
When I was a kid, the first Cobra I ever saw was Ivy Green, so I had to have that color.

Bill, that is the set up all AutoKraft AC's MKIV's (non lightweights) came with from factory, except silencers/mufflers were in rear wheel wells. Rear tread is about 4inches wider than a MKIII via Frua uprights, bearings and compomotives 15's or 16's with a bit moire backspace. They did this as the cars were equipped with cats and passed epa regs. Jim

I don't know if this is what you are talking about or not, but when I was at Olthoff Racing last, they had one of their cars that they had done a very cool mod to. They can build the car so that it still has the sidepipes for the 427SC look, but they are there for show as they run undercar exhaust as well. Looked very well done and I didn't even notice it until they started the car and my ears noticed the noise wasn't coming from where my eyes were looking... they told me they have done it several times, but I am betting its not cheap. If your interested in something like that, give them a call and I am sure they can talk to you about it, even if you get it done at another dealer. I think I have a picture on my cell phone somewhere that I will try and post.
James

SPF Rear Exhaust
Thanks for all your comments and pictures. Now the big question, does anyone have any sound files? Hearing is soooo much better.
