Default Tremec 3550 - Linkage issue?

Out of blue the 3550 resisted shifting from first to second, then second to third, then third to fourth. Shifting into fifth is not a problem. Downshifts were OK and double-clutching the upshifts eliminated the stiffness and 'mild' grinding. SPO 1862 has 16,000 miles. The transmission has never been serviced. Fluid is GM Synchromesh and the fluid level is OK.

The car is equipped with a Centerforce clutch and a Lakewood bell housing.

Apparently some part of the link between the shifter and the transmission has gone out of alignment or otherwise become loose. Any thoughts I might pass on to the folks who will be making a diagnosis?

Advice on accessing the top of the transmission would also be helpful. The carpeted tranny cover will have to come off - any advice here?

Thanks!

A beautiful car, precisely assembled. Unfortunately I don't fit. Sold it after four hundred miles. Well, at least now I know a Cobra is not a car I can own.

Steve, there is a full pictoral and procedure on SCOF for this. Roughly a dozen bolt/nut retainers that hold it down, along with some really nasty black sticky sealant that will attach itself to everything. Those that have done this job usually line the edge with weatherstripping or something else, so that future jobs are a snap. I believe that you also have to pull the seats to get the tranny tunnel completely out.
