SPF Paint Protection Film
Does anyone make a protection film kit for a Superformance MKIII? Searching here just turned up bad links. Clearmask has a kit for a Shelby AC Cobra that is not listed on their website. I would hate to order without knowing if it would work.

try contacting 3M , Invinca Shield, i believe it is called . Some have had great results they reported, others not so lucky: turned yellow over time , some reports of removal problems .
Hopefully someone else who has used it will chime in here .
I would research it carefully before putting it on .
I just live with the chips - a badge of honor for my old driver . Bill

Finish line sent me a new catalog and I believe there was film made for the MKIII for the nose and front of the rear fender well. Inexpensive too.

There is a company called X-pel that uses a 3M product for paint protection. The product is made using 3M Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film which is a rugged eight mil (.008") clear Urethane plastic employing a clear-coat finish for maximum shine.
3M Paint Protection Film is warranted by 3M not to yellow, crack or peel for 5 years after installation.
I have this product installed on the front of my F250 and we also have it on the nose and rocker panels of all our Z06 Corvettes. It is good stuff.
I looked on their WEB site ( http://www.xpel.com/) and didn't see a kit for a Cobra, but you might do a search for a dealer close and see if they can custom make what you want. I know the guys that did the install on our Corvettes had that capability and custom made the kits for those cars.

Contact Dennis Olthoff. He has someone that applies the kit on the SPF's he sells. Mine has the shield, and its got 12K miles and looks like new. Spend the extra few bucks and have a professional install the shields.

In the Houston Area
In the Houston area I used ClearTech Pro to install mine. You can contact Steve Perez to see were they got the kits from. I think he has been cutting then himself now, he only uses the 3M product. his # is 713-539-6700.
check out his web site www.cleartechpro.com

Jim,
I would like to find someone within a couple of hundred miles who has done a cobra before. I've contacted invinca-sheild, XPEL and Clearmask about who works the WV, S.W. PA, DC area.
I ordered a piece of the 3M material from XPEL to practice with, just in case I end up doing it myself.

There is a product called 3M Scotchcal Paint Protection Film - Item #84911 which works great and is easly to apply. Instructions are included. The roll measures 12 inches by 84 inches ( several cars ) . Mine has lasted for over 5 years with no yellowing or clouding.

Chet,
In my humble opinion, after watching the pros do the install on my truck and the Z06's, I think it would be well worth a lengthy drive to have a professional do the install vs. trying it yourself. The front of the Cobra has several compound curves that I believe would be an extreme challenge to cover seamlessly for a novice. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Blas is right. Invinca Shield is kaput. The good news is there are plenty of shops that can install this film--3M or other supplier's--clear shield. Chet is right, too. If you've never installed the stuff, it's best to pay the price for a pro to do it. That's what I did with my Cobra after I messed up a piece.
After Invinca Shield shut their doors, I bought the material locally--it wasn't 3M's--and installed it on my GT40 and Mustang. I did this because I'm Scottish and I took notes when the technician did the installation on my Cobra. The secrets are a good pattern to start with, clean hands, an Xacto knife, scissors, lots of water in an spray bottle with a drop of detergent in it and LOTS of patience. Little imperfections will go away with time, so you have to exhibit some restraint and not overwork the film.
By the way, the Mustang and GT40 turned out as nice as the Cobra. And, no, I don't want to go into the installation business.

Chet,
You might want to check this one out. Click here ==> http://armorcoat.armorauto.com/
It requires a professioinal body shop to install but the results are impressive and because there is no cut film pieces there is no 'sun tan' line (from stones or UV) in the paint where the film ends and the paint begins.

Just found this:
http://clearfilmprotection.com/
They have a kit for the 2000 to 2007 Superformance SPF MKIII. It's a 30 " upper kit with hood, fenders, bumper and upper door coverage. I'm going to order one tomorrow.
