When did superformance quit utilizing the start button

I don't have a push button but have considered it soley based on the ignition assembly turning with the key. I just tighten it back down now but I think I've heard that this set up is prone for that. If I did a push button I would leave the standard ignition and hide the button or use the horn button. It would still look original and have a secondary securtiy feature as well.

There's some nice big red buttons available for industrial switch gear. I adapted one for my start button.

Mine's not a superformance but the theory is the same. I've set mine up so you can use either the key or the start button to crank the engine. The Start button trips a seperate relay to switch the start relay. The power for the start button relay comes from the ignition switch circuit so if the ignition is in the off position or accessory position the start button wont work. It only goes live when the key is in the ignition on position. No need for kill switches etc.

I am running a seperate electronic imobiliser to kill the fuel pumps and ECU etc but this is an engineering requrement for registration down here.

It sounds a bit complicated but it's actually very simple. I'll try and draw a picture of the circuit and post it up here.

You could have three buttons. One to turn on the ignition. One to engage the starter. And a third to turn off the ignition. That would be real cool...... and gay.

I just bought the battery brain and look like there is no room to mount the battery brain in the trunk of the superformance battery holder

can you share where do you mount the battery brain in your car, I was thinking to run a cable all the way from the battery to some where to the front but look like too much work for me

I also added a doo dad called a Battery Brain Type III. It hooks up to your battery and is designed to protect your battery from being drained to far when the engine is off.
