Inside the motor compartment I have a Superformance plate referencing Dynamic Motorsports and the following #K1399AM1626

The Superformance Chassis Number is assigned by Superformance and stamped directly on the frame. The "Car Number" is the shorthand Chassis Number identifier for each car. The Chassis serial number is located on the VIN plate on top of the passenger foot well as viewed from the engine compartment

The Superformance Chassis Number exists in one of these three formats:
1. AC9CSLK1897AM1***. a 17 digit format with the xxx (the LAST 3 digits) being the spf chassis number . these existed on cars 032 thru 577 as well as 579, 580, 582,583, 584 and 586.
2. SP***, a 5 digit format. used on cars 578, 581, 585, 587, 588, 589 and 590. the last 3 digits being the chassis number.
3. SPO****, a 7 digit form. used on cars 591 and newer, the last digits being the chassis number.

The asterisks (*) are the Car Number you are looking for that vary from car to car. Even if your VIN number fits this format, it may not be not be your chassis number. The only accurate way to determine the Superformance Chassis Number is as follows.

Locating the Superformance Chassis Number and confirmation other than by the VIN tag:
A.) Open the hood. Look in from the driver's side.
B.) Locate the upper front cross member. It is just in front of the engine. For reference, it typically has the remote oil filter mounted on it.
C.) On the top of the cross member about two inches from the left (driver's side) upright, a number is stamped directly on the frame cross member. This is the Superformance Chassis Number.

The number may also be written in grease pencil in the hinge plate, but use the stamped number.
The number is on every hinge on the car. Hood hinge plates, trunk hinge plates are the easiest. The rollbar is stamped too, down near its mounting points.

The chassis number for 541 is AC9CSLK1399AM1541. The 10th and 11th digits
"99" mean that the car was built in 1999.

If you ever take your car apart you will find this SPF number writen or stamped in about 10 other places. I found mine under the carpet in two places, behind the dash cover, on the hinges, stamped in roll bar, stamped on control arms, stamped on lid hinges, writen on gas tank top, plus some other spots I can't remember.

The back of the tail light housing, bottom side of the floor pan, back side of the glove box.........most of the peices are numbered at the plant to keep track of what part fits which car. The car is hand fitted so some parts don't exactly fit another...........

Number 626? Your car was built around 1998? What motor do you have?

I was told this also because part of my full stamped number on the plate has 99 in the sequence of numbers.

Just happened to browse this thread and learned something new about my car!

I was told that my car was built in 1992, but according to the chassis number AC9CSLK1194AM1023 it was 1994.

Thanks for the info...always lots to learn here.

Bill

Car # 23? Wow. I thought that cars 1-23 were prototypes. 1994 sounds correct. Got a picture? I'd like to see it.

It is a prototype, Tom, apparently one of three that were shipped to the states. The other two haven't shown up as yet. 023 is one of the cars featured on Second Strike under Hot Shots.
