Thank You For the Advice and Punctures - Kinda Long
Well, I've been soaking up all the information I could regarding redoing the safety wires. The resources on this forum are terrific!
I have my little spool of SS safety wire, my little spinner, some assorted (Or is it sordid) pliers and off I went.
My job was to try and duplicate the job that was done by Steve and the boys in Reno. The problem was I have rarely safety-wired anything. When I raced I used gorilla snot to keep things from falling off.
I started the wire job and by the time I got to the last wheel, I was satisfied with my newly acquired skill. I also used up enough safety wire to redo a Boeing 747.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I was also bleeding all over my wheels.
Apparently, those sharp wire ends will slice and dice a hand pretty good. However, there was a good thing that came out of this, I found out that Exotic Metal polish also removes copious quantities of blood from newly polished wheels.
So the wheels are done and I am very happy. Now my problem is how do I explain to my bass guitar instructor tomorrow that the reason I'm behind in practicing is because I was wired.
I appreciate being on this forum...Just let me know if there is a thread somewhere that discusses the proper procedures for applying multiple bandaids to one's hands.
Regards, Ivan
