Just placed the order
OK, I have been looking for quite a while and intended to place my order mid-month, but this deal came long and fit perfectly. I have placed my order with Gear6performance and am looking forward to the delivery. I was somewhat flexible with color, but they told me what was "on the boat" and one of my top choices (if not the top) was on its' way, royal blue with white stripes.
Wayne has been great to deal with at Gear6, so I will hope it stays this way, no reason to think it won't. Probably going to go with his suggestions since I have not found any reasons why not to...Roush 427SR with a Tremec 600 tranny.
Anyway, looking forward to getting into SPF 2882.

These cars can be a handful so if you've never attended a high performance driving course you might want to give it some thought.
These courses teach one how to avoid trouble and what to do if trouble finds you.

Well, they actually slotted me for one that is going to get here a little quicker, so I am now SPF 2813 and Superformance has a pic up on their site on the "shipped" section, actual car I'm getting. Just wish they had more pics... The wait is going to kill me. The pic from Superformance is now my screen saver.
No, I am not doing the install. I will leave that to Wayne and his bunch.
Actually grew up with some pretty powerful Mustangs. My grandfather owned a Ford Dealership, so my first car was a 1969 429 Boss, dual 4's. I really wish I had kept that car...
I have been through the Petty course, wife "won" it at a charity silent auction.
More recently had a 911 Porshe, but it was pretty tame, IMO. I plan on taking it very carefully.

Good decision, if you go Roush read the warranty papers. Has to be installed by ASE certified mechanic. I do not agree but that are the rules.

You are lucky to get quicker delivery!!! Although worth the wait it can be painfull, LOL!!! I have the 427sr/tw with 600 and cruise all day long between 1600 and 2400 rpm and it is as smooth as it can be, in fact I just got back home. Everyone warned the 427R may be a little lumpy at idle, the 427SR/TW is plenty lumpy enough to scare everyone away but not enough to wear you out. Roush says nothing greater than 3500 rpms for the first 1K and Centerforce says no full engine torque for 500 miles. You only get to break them in once you might as well do it right.

That is great information, thanks. I am sure Wayne would have covered it at some point.
What is the difference between the Roush 427 sr and the sr/tw?
Right now, I have the sr, polished on my "addendum".
I am also going with the roush shifter and X-Pel rear fender coating.

The Roush SR "only" generates about 485 hp, the sr/tw is about 520hp and the r is 550hp. The problem with the "R" is it generates all it torque above 4000 rpm. Not very streetable when going from stop light to stop light. The sr develops all it torque very low and the sr/tw is a happy medium. I am sure Wayne will recommend the sr/tw. The only difference between the sr and sr/tw is the camshaft. The r is a little more radical, no electric choke and I beleive single plane intake. I feel it is more for high rpm road racing, give Roush a call or go to their websight and look at their dyno curves. they do not have one for the sr/tw but it mimicks the sr.

Congrats on the car, you will love it. Take it easy until you get to know the car well, and then you still must show it a lot of respect. I owned a lot of fast muscle cars and some vettes before my SPF, and nothing compares. The car can get away from you very fast if your not careful. Have fun!!!

Well, I paid Wayne a visit in Boise and got to drive his demo with the same engine in it. Had some real fun and took it easy. I did find out that he was doing the sr/tw, so it should be fun.
Wayne has just about everything in, part-wise. The engine should be in this week. The roller is somewhere in the Pacific, probably between Midaway Island and LA. It is due into LA Friday afternoon.
I am crossing my fingers that it doesn't get held up in customs so that Wayne can pick it up next Monday. With a lot of luck, I might be able to get it around 6/22. Otherwise, I will have to wiat until mid July. The wait is the hardest part.

I could not agree more. I know to get certified as an ASE R12 tech it was an open pamphlet test and a check for $12.00 back in the mid 90'2 when you had to have a license to buy R12

Wayne is having it installed by a Roush guy he uses on all his installs. The more important thing is that Wayne keeps his trained eye on everything. It's his attention to detail in every aspect that really gives me a strong peace of mind.
I quizzed him pretty strong on the whole brake issue (or not) and feel very confident that my car will stop just fine. Let's just say I don't think the braking issue is an SPF issue. One of the things that makes me even more confident is that he has done this exact install many times and not one complaint. I think I have spoken with almost half his installs on these. Those conversations coupled with his other car related knowledge/activities are what led me to choose a dealer that is 600 miles away instead of 6 miles away.
Reputation is the largest factor in this business and his speaks for itself. Just do the the Superformance site and read the first testimonial.

Just to cover your basis call Roush and tell them (180059roush) the Roush guy name he uses on all his installs to ensure the warranty will not be voided if he is not an ase certified mechanic.
