Looking for a 15" Original Front Wheel for SPF #848

Need a front wheel. It is a Trigo Cobra II 7 1/2 with a 5 x 4 1/2 pin pattern.

John, Trigo was sold to So Cal Speed Shop. They are based in Pomono, CA (don't have the number but a Google search should do the trick). A new rim is around $250-300 plus shipping. Or you can call any SPF dealer and they might be able to help you out. Every now and then Lance at Hillbank has some used ones in his warehouse.

Trigo sent me a wheel and it would not fit. The pins would not line up with the holes in the wheel.

I called Hillbank, $650.00 for a new wheel, business must be good. I told them that they were available new from Trigo for $300.00.

My concern is that the wheel be as perfect a match to the originals as possible.

The wheel trigo sent me was machined differently on the back side. They are sending me another wheel, will it fit?

Looking for options!

When you say it would not fit are you talking about just barely not fitting or not fitting by a country mile?
There are two bolt patterns. Maybe they sent you the wrong one by mistake. I replaced a front wheel on my 700 series SPF with a new one from Trigo. The new wheel would not go on the pins set up for the old wheel. Did you get the pin alignment tool too? I would set the pins so the pin alignment tool worked smoothly but the wheel would not go on the car. It took a few tries but it eventually worked. Others have stated that a well placed whack on the pin in the direction needed works. I did not have to resort to that. Hope this helps. Good luck.

They did not send me an alignment tool. The fit is not close enough to seat all of the pins. It will seat a few pins and then rock back and forth. Trigo is sending me a new wheel to try..

You have to buy the alignment tool. I don't remember what it cost but it is not very much. It is just a round disc with the bolt pattern drilled into it.
It sounds to me like you are getting the same problem I had with my new wheel. It was close but would not go over the pins. As I said, it took a few tries with the alignment tool to get the pins set for the new wheel but it does work. You might try the hammer trick.

You might want to check the back of the wheel for mfr. name unless you have done so already.
According to legend:
Cars 300-ish to 800-ish: came with TRIGO wheels and forged spinners...
Cars 800-ish to 1200-ish on up used the new WAW South African...
Please note:
Due to the contact surface of the taper at the spinner to the wheel, the forged Trigo spinners will work on the WAW wheels, but the WAW spinners do not work of the Trigo wheels.

You are correct, the Trigo's went away a year or so after my car was built. My car was built with the Trigo wheels. BTW, Trigo seems more than willing to help me out.
