just a quick question to all new owners of spf cars, when ordering a new car is there a charge to have the white stripes put on the car?

Yes, it sucks off that they don't inform you at all about the options on the website. i think it's like a 800-1200 option.

The dealer that I bought my car from had a form with all of the factory options. Pick the factory options that you want and then start negotiating.

The stripes are alot of extra work. If you want stripes its best to have them done at the factory.

If you have ever painted a car yourself, and added stripes yourself (both apply to me, but not on a Cobra), then you can understand the extra effort required to do it right. Doing it right not only means measuring and masking properly, but pulling the tape at the right time so that the edges flow/blend with the color coat and minimize the seam. Then laying on clear over that and color sanding just right so that you can't feel the stripe. It looks pretty simple on the surface...measure, line tape, mask, shoot, done. It's anything but that.

Personally, I'd rather they just include it in the base price and have a "stripe delete" option where the buyer is credited $600 rather than charged extra. All in the base price marketing, I suppose.

I wish they would have offered a soft top delete option as well. Tonneaua is good to have, but I haven't used it yet.

When I ordered my SPF in 2002 the 18 gal fuel cell was an option. Is the fuel cell still available to current buyers?

I am with Dean on this one because the layout of the stripes is critical to a great job. $250 is awfully cheap and I bet the guy wouldn't do it again for that price. $600-$800 is a fair price.

Yes, i bought my car on the floor, did not order. It seems as though over 99% of cobras have stripes. This is why i was disappointed to see it as an option when i was expecting a different price, i did not expect there to be options as there is no mention of options on the website.

It's 600 bucks right now. I am getting ready to order my third SPF. I looked back and it has been an option for as long as I have bought them (if that makes you feel any better)

Since you bought yours off the floor you might not have noticed, but several items or components "can" be additional costs.

Bartruff: Can you feel the stripes on your car? -I'll bet you can! It's hard to add stripes after the car is painted, and NOT feel them - unless he clear coated the car a few times and wet sanded.
- But for $250 bucks I doubt he did all that.

IMO, $600 bucks for stripes applied at the factory is a bargain, especially considering the paint quality you get from SPF.
-I believe stripes on the CSX cars are twice as much money.
