This thread makes little sense to me since we are not comparing apples to apples. Lets see a well portioned new SPF goes for mid-60's with a Roush. A well portioned Kirkham goes for $11?'s. A used SPF with Roush Mid 50's, A used Kirham 90's. I still see a $40K spread. Sure there are always the one off's like the starformance rollers for $35K last spring or the Ebay Kirkham for $68K but even those two were 30K difference and the ebay Kirkham was not new.
I guess I should start my own thread an original versus Kirkham if we are not factoring price in the equation.

Oh, to set the record straight, I would take a Kirkham any day of the week if I had the money, which I kinda do but now I want a GT40. Idle mind is the devil workshop.

I think the original thread started with the question of whether the "feel" of the two cars are the same. Essentially, is it worth the extra $30,000-$40,000 (using your numbers). I can't answer that question since I have never driven an SPF.
I just naturally gravitated towards arrooominum.

Thanks for the clarification. Is it worth the extra $30-40K more, in my opinion and financial status not for a replica. My SPF drives flawless no vibration, comfortable, solid. I do not see how one could drive better for MY driving which amounts to around town, no track or racing, so no I do not feel it is worth $30 - 40K more, now if I had unlimited funds and everything else I wanted and 40k was nothing then sure I would spring for the kirkham aluminium body etc.

I'm only assuming, but the fact that the Kirkhams have updated to the billet aluminum suspension, the aluminum rear end (option), etc. that they must drive somewhat different. Not sure. My Kirkham was just recently weighed with a full tank of gas and weighed in at 2,146 lbs.

I have driven both. There is no differance and superformance may be better. The handeling is excelente. I am just getting ready to put a new super on the road. I am going with a Roush 427R. Cant beat two yr war.

I wish I can find those deals. Everything that I'm looking at car-wise, the seller wants top dollar and offers little flexibility on price.

With my Kirkham, I haven't needed a warranty. Anything that has needed replacement, the Kirkhams have offered to replace or fix. There are many threads on the CC Forum, where the Kirkhams have done the same for other owners.

Keep looking, the deals are out there. I picked up a 13k hot tub for 6k and with a 5k enclosure for 2k. Both were brand new name brand top of the line stuff, but the place is going out of business.
I also picked up a 2007 offroad toy that they guy had 30k in for 9k. The guy just needed it off his credit. I payed off his loan and loaded it in the trailer. If you have cash now is the time to buy. I saw this coming a couple years ago ( I went through the housing crash in the 80's) and I have been waiting to buy. Now is a good time though. I am looking for some rentals now

I have driven both (and own a SPF) and they both drive terrific. I thought the 2 K-cars I drove felt lighter, and you could feel that with slightly better cornering (I think they are a good 300lbs lighter than my SPF).
However, both K-cars I drove had alum FE's and GoodYear Billboards and my car has an iron block Sideoiler and BFG rubber.
-Apples and Oranges.
To me, if you can come up with the extra 40K, then go with the K-car. Beautiful cars and top notch service from the Brothers.
For me personally, I went with the SPF because it was my first Cobra, and I didn't want to drop 100K on a car I may not like (little did I know!). But, I didn't want a kit; I wanted something factory assembled, good build quality, and had a good reputation.
-Superformance fit that bill for me.
Now that I'm more familiar with Cobra's, would I spend 100K on a Kirkham today? -Absolutely.
But then again, for 100K you could have TWO Spf's! How about one with stripes and a small-block, and a nice solid Black with an FE?
-That would be a garage that would be hard for me to turn down.

I kept reading "k-cars" and I'll I could think of Chrysler's fabulous "K" series chassis.
