Steering Column Help
How do you remove and or loosen the steering column. I am replacing my tach with an MSD compatible tach from Nisonger and I can not get the new tach to go into the dash. The steering column interfers about 3/16" to 1/4".

MSD Compatible tach???
All the Superformance Tach's were compatible with MSD ignitions. The early cars only needed a tach adapter to make it work. Just an inline capacitor….
Regarding the fit-up problem, can you just remove the steering wheel?

My tach works good hooked up to the MSD AL6 box. IMO it is the most acurate of the Smith gauges.

I've got SPF #258 and the older tachs are not compatible with the MSD type systems according to my personal experience, Dennis Olthoff and the guys at Nisonger and APT. I tried both adapters to no avail.
It's the steering column and the turn signal ring that are giving me a problem. If I could just loosen the column a bit and push it to the right (I have the street version dash) a quarter inch I would be a happy camper.

Are you pulling signal from the "S" or the "+" tap on the tach?

You might want to purchase the wiring diagram that Blas sells. It is probably the best on the market. I had one for each of my superformances. I had 0995 and 2742. I took the msd 6aL out of 0995 and put it in the new one without a hitch.
Good luck with your project........

All good now. Figured out the steering wheel deal and hooked up with Blas. He was very helpful.
