Default Build time

Just curious to know what the average build time was to complete your Cobra once you, or your builder had the engine and transmission.

Thanks for your help,
Ltdcobra

that all depends on how fancy you want your car. the dealers tell you it can be done in less than 20 hours. a guy who does installs on spf' all the time will get it done in less than 20 hours. if you are doing your first one, don,t rush it. haste makes waste. if you want a nice car, take your time.

Simple car 25-30 hours.

that is using ;

1. a 351W based (or 302 based ) motor
2. stock external regulator alternator (ford type)
3. duraspark distributor
4. carburetor

these items keep it down to a science. -

If its the first one that the person has done it will take longer, and they may do some learning along the way.

For a professional/experienced installer, I think they quote about 30 hours.

My Venom came as a rolling chassis. It took 3 days with a mechanic and me (24 work hours) to finish the job. That included placement of the engine, transmission, driveshaft and shifter; installing headers and pipes; solving clearance problems; connecting fuel line and clutch slave cylinder; connecting radiator; and installing MSD box and alternator.

Then, it took 3 months to get the car inspected, titled and licensed from the State before I could take it on the road legally.

Ever since, I have spent 200 plus hours doing upgrades, improvements, replacements etc. etc. That’s the fun with these Cobras. They are a lifelong companion.

Does anyone really "finish" their car?

Thanks again for all the input, I will let you know how it goes. I received a call from the builder today and I am going down tomorrow to help him drop(not literally) the engine into the car. Can't tell you how excited I am.

Install is a better word than "Drop".

Default Done.......???

Evenings and weekend spots of time over a year's time...from a kit to "street legal complete". But though my beast has been on the road and roaring for almost six months now, the list of things I'm deciding to improve, change, upgrade or otherwise throw time and $$ at just continues to grow....

..and I'm getting the feeling it always will...
