I don't think it matters how tight they are, they will still rub the paint off. I remember back in the 80's when front end bras were the rage - they all rubbed the paint off at some point no matter how good the fit.

I'd like to find something that sticks on like the 3M, but is a little harder for added protection from the larger rocks and gravel.

Cobra # 42

The price if I remember was around $150 for the product and $200 or $300 installation cost charged by my painter. I had the whole front to the hood hinges coated, the spat area and behind the rear wheels. you can see the area taped off in the images in my gallery.

dcdoug,

Yes you can see it but not as much as the 3M film i original had. The film did not stop all of the rock chips. I got hit with what I thought was a lug nut going 65mph and it looks like a very small ding. My painter applied 3 coats and polished it to a very good shine. takes wax well, I would not hesitate to have this used on any future cars.

My SPF came with the leather spats and I havent noticed any paint wearing from the last two years of driving.
The carbon fiber ones in the post above look like they would work. They stick like the 3M but probably offer more protection.

Panavia....what do you mean when you stated questionable paint in 2007 productions SPF's. I have a 2006 that seems to get more pecks in the paint than other SPF's in town. I only have 3m protection on the rears. Nothing up the front.

Not so sure how my Cobra would look driving down the road with an Anglican clinging to each rear fender!

First - "I love me mah SPF". - but the paint in my particular case has been a sore spot.

I have had stingrays and fiberglass and enduroflex parts on other sport cars and I have never had the easy chipping that I have had on my car.

Eventually I may have it repainted, but I am too busy driving it.

Maybe I should evolve "beyond" paint >?
