Windshield Scratches
Do these cars come with glass or lexan windshields? I noticed a lot of scratches today on my windshield.
I've been cleaning it with paper towels and windex and I'm not sure if I've done this or the scratches were there when I bought it. What's the proper way to clean the windshield (bugs) and is there any way to fix scratches besides replacing the unit? Thx

SPF windscreens are laminated glass. There are several glass polishing kits available on the market that can remove light imperfections. Just remember that polishing glass generates heat, and too much heat can either distort or crack the glass...be careful.

Paper towels are made of wood fibers...
And wood fibers and the suspended materials in the paper towel scratch glass.
Try making-up a solution of 1/3 distilled water, 1/3 household vingar and 1/3 Isopropyl alcohol...Better the Windex and cleans chrome nicely too. Bugs need to re-hydrate to be removed without scraping...

Eastwood sells a kit. Griot's also has a kit for $35...you supply the Porter-Cable. However, you'll have to buy the 6" pads separately (another $15). Haven't used either but it will most likely end up on my Christmas list.

I've had great luck with Invisible glass and microfiber towels. That's all I've used since my car was new. It won't fix the scratches, but at least it might prevent more scratches.

If you look in the lower right hand corner of your windshield there is what they call a "bug" it has the info on your windshield and it should say "laminated" in there somewhere or it might be in the center (some are).DO NOT get polishing compound on your paint it is an abrasive and will scratch the paint and will make you very unhappy. Be careful and take your time and you should be o.k.

second vote for microfiber and invisable glass. I use it on all my cars and it is the best!

I agree, microfiber, not paper towels. I bought the 6" orbital polisher and the 3" windshield kit from Griots Garage. Works great !
The 3' can be used anywhere like, for chrome and the many,.....small curved area's on the Cobra body. Awesome product's.
