Default Cooling system bleeding

Looking for advise on bleeding the cooling system. I believe I have air is the system as my temp gauge spikes to 115 for a few blocks after a cold start then settles to 95 where the engine will idle in traffic.

I have tried jacking the front very high and I have also applied vacuum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jack

Default I Measure My Coolant...

I know it's too late, but when I do the coolant I drain it in to a big plastic tub like thing and then pour it back in to empty gallon water jugs. Then I know how much I have to put back in to get back to where I was (if I drain three and half gallons and only put back three gallons I know I've got an air bubble). Do you have a heater? If so, that can be a trouble spot along with the intake manifold and upper corner of your radiator. Eventually, most bubbles make their way out to the surge tank. Loosening up the heater hose and a fitting on the intake manifold can help, along with parking your car on a big incline (watch your oil pressure, though). Do you happen to have a bleed screw, maybe on the top of your radiator? Just keep cracking fittings and clamps and eventually your bubble will work itself out.

If I did the math right, that's 203* at idle in traffic. Drive it and don't worry about it. That's not hot. If it is a bubble it will work it's way out sooner or later. Keep an eye on your overflow tank before each run and be sure it has fluid in it at the proper level.

some thermostats take a little longer to open then some people can tolerate so you see a higher temp after startup, if it settles back then it is probably fine.
