Bill,

Just curious how you came up with your numbers. How many sales over what period of time are these numbers based on ? Do you have some sort of an inside track on what actual selling prices are for these vehicles ?

Thanks,

Ted

Well the 3 SPFs I had in the past I sold one in 2001 for $48,500 (351 Shelby Paxton Supercharger), another one in 2002 for $53,000 (514 Crate) and one in 2004 for $58,000 (KC 427 Small Block).

Over 30 in the last 14 months. I track most Cobra replica sales across the boards and by allowing strictly confidential data to be submitted, I keep my database clean and unbiased or tainted.

It is too bad you don't show the engine HP or mileage. I've wanted to have like a Kelley Blue Book for all Cobras and have factors for miles, engine, condition, etc. I have a 2007 SPF and think it is worth north of $60k which matches pretty well with your $66k figure for a 2007. I have almost 12k miles and have road rash, etc..... Thanks for the data tabulation and sharing.

Bill,

Thanks for the reply. That's very interesting. It's too bad you don't have the ability to get the same type of data from the sale of Hillbank's cars. My gut tells me that most of those sell for significantly less than their asking prices.

Actually I do have those data, Ward.

Of the 30 model year 2007 SPFs in my spreadsheet, 10 were equipped with 427 strokers (351W) like yours. The average asking price for those 10 SPFs was $68,900 and the average mileage was 3,660. Prices ranged from $55,000 to $79,999 and mileage ranged from 500 to 17,500.

I'm surprised to see of the 30 SPFs, 20 had big blocks and only 10 had small blocks. How much more were the BB than the SB? I take it you don't differentiate between a stroked 351 and a Dart racing small block. I bought mine in March of 2010 for $55k with 1,700 miles. Looks like I got a relatively good deal....

Of the 30 MY2007s, only eight of them were big blocks, mostly 460s. The other 22 were small blocks, mostly 351W strokers of various displacements (402, 408, 418 and 427).

The big block prices were skewed because of one particular car where the owner was asking a huge amount: $110,000.

Once you remove this outlier, there was really no price difference, BB vs SB.

I haven't been cataloguing whether the cars had Dart blocks.

Good Cobras in this price range seem to be up about 5K or more across the board since 3 years ago.

Default Thank You

I am trying to sell my car and this is very helpful to come up with realistic pricing. I see pricing all over the place, especially at the TV auctions. Any other input is greatly appreciated!

Was in a Facebook discussion last year with someone trying to sell his car with no luck. He kept lowering and lowering the price, and most of us told him he was going in the wrong direction. If you ask too little, most people will wonder what is wrong with it and not even take a look at it.
My issue with the TV auctions is that you get very little information besides the engine. They rarely tell you the manufacturer or the year it was completed, which does seem to make a difference. SPFs seem to hold their value well.
