Ditto what Frank said. You would be amazed at the poor quality of aftermarket t-stats. Many if not most Motorcraft t-stats use stainless steel in their construction from my experience. One I had for V6 in a '90 Super Coupe even had a nice little stainless check-ball valve to allow air to bleed through when refilling the system. Smart design. The 192F rating is/was typical of a fuel injected alum head motor since I cant remember when, 80's ??
