Over charging problem
I have fried four batteries over the last few years, and originally thought it was the battery tender. Further investigation indicates an over charging issue while the car is running. My voltmeter guage at the dash shows just over 15V when running, which is confirmed by a VOM reading of 15.sV at the battery. The voltage regulator is grounded properly, also confirmed using a VOM.
Evidence points to a faulty v-reg, which I replaced with a new unit. Afterwards, it is still over charging at 15.2V (no change).
The only other culprit in the system is the alternator. Could the alternator be over charging the system even with the new v-reg? Is there something else I should be looking at?
