Blue Streak Tire Pressure

To add to the mystery, some of us die-hards have opted to use Halibrand pin drives and suffer the quirks of using Good Year Blue Streak tires. In my case, this has caused both headaches and generated questions about the originality of the car. "Is it real or Memorex?" I've even been asked what the serial number is, by owners of original Cobras. That's a warm fuzzy if there ever was one!

The headache side has been quirky driving. The Blue Streaks were/are bias ply racing tires meant for the track, not the street. The treaded variety (like mine) are actually rain tires.

For some unknown reason, they lose air...even with tubes in them. I finally learned to watch the tire pressure and air them up every time I took the car out. I found that 32# front and 34# rear works very well if a little harsh riding.

If the pressure gets much under 30# or varies more than a couple of pounds from tire to tire, your car will feel like you're herding sheep.

Check 'em daily and you'll be rewarded with both looks and drivability.

I'd like to know how many others have had this problem.
