Question Pro5.0 shifter

Would like to replace stock shifter in my Tremec 3550 5speed gear box. The rear most location has 6 bolts holding the shifter in place, the Pro5.0's i've seen only have 4 bolt holes? Does anybody know the part# for this 6 bolt hole Pro5.0 shifter? Thanx. Rod

You need to tell them its for a TREMEC 3550 the ones with 4 bolt holes are for the T5 and T45. I have the PRo 5.0 and its works great.

Thumbs up Hey Fred!

Fred I want to thank you for planting the Pro5.0 shifter seed in my head! If you compare the stock shifter to that Pro5.0, Wow its a nice beefy piece and those over shift bolts are very effective! Thanx Fred!! PS I will get back to ya on the sept 2003 cobra cruise! Looks like we need you guys and gals to make it up into Canada!

I purchased mine from a friend who owns an auto parts store here in town. You can probably buy direct although you would most likely pay retail. Try Pro 5.0 on a search engine, there may be some deals out there.

Rodney

I got my Pro from Mark at Superformance which was shipped from MustangsUnlimited.com. Their part # is 7210TR 02. I just checked their web page and they do have them @ $199.00 I know you can shop around and get them for around $175. Hope this helped.

If you don't like the way your tremec shifts, give it a few thousand miles and all will change. They are quite notchy when new, loosen up alot after some miles. Of course, you all probubly know this and just want to buy more anodized goodies for your toy. The overtravel stops are nice, but with a cobra shifter handle the quick ratio will be lost. I often grab the handle down by the rubber bootie anstead of the knob for better feel.

I picked this up over at cobraforum:

Main Thing - Thanks to Wade Chamberlain's advise - Drained out the new
$13.50 / qt. GM Syncromesh Fluid, flushed it twice with 3 qts. of $1.49/qt.
Ford OEM Mercron Fluid and filled it with three final quarts of Mercron -
shifts great now. Had gone through all the Pro 5.0 shifters, new handles,
etc. So much for the "high priced spread" in the old T-5. Before this,
wouldn't shift worth a dxxx into third and sometimes 4th with the FFR stock
handle and (forum recommended) GM fluid. $169.00 Pro-5.0 shifter didn't
help very much and neither did the multiple clutch adjustments. Just plain
& simple Ford Mercron fixed it real good.

For fluid, allow me to recommend REDLINE ATF C+
You will feel the difference over regular mercon ATF or syncromesh
