Default Speedo problems

I have a VDO speedometer with Hall-Effect Sensor, Tremec TKO Tranny. Trying to calibrate the speedo, I keep getting a message there is no data recieved. I removed the sensor and turned the shaft with a drill and got some figures on the speedo, but get nothing and unable to calibrate while driving the measured mile. Could something be missing in the transmission? Any ideas will be appreciated. I am ready for some serious driving now but not having a speedo makes me nervious when the eyes of the law are upon me.

Wink Paul.........

there is a little gear that goes on the end of the sensor that goes in the transmission. Do you have one of those?

Jim,
Thanks for the comeback. No, my sensor didn't have a gear with it , just the square shaft . I thought this mateded with something in the tranny. So, where do I find a gear and should this have come with the sensor? Thanks again

Paul

Paul,
I have the Autometer elec speedo with a tremec. I used a Ford T-5 sensor and gear. Got from my local Ford dealer. My old invoice lists the following that I purchased on that day:

Part Number/Description:

E9TZ-9E731-A Sensor 759193 $ 36.58
C1DZ-17292-A Ret-Spe 106646 $ .31 (I think this is a retainer)
C1DZ-17271-A Gr-Spee 107982 $ 6.41 (I think this is the gear)

Hope this helps,
Roscoe

Cool Paul.........

call Lone Star and ask them for the part number. I'll bet they have them in stock and will send you one.
