Default Carb info

I'm looking for specific information on the Holley 4150HP
1) It's a 750 CFM w/Mechanical secondaries
2) Carb Model number 0-80528-1

a) I'm looking for rebuild and tuning info.
b) Also a comprehensive rebuild kit.

My mechanical abilities are fair to good, but carburetor knowledge and experience is very limited.

After a season of running excessively rich, poor mileage, and less than great performance, I need to attempt to fine tune the carb.

Does any one have the Holley Tech manual #36-275, or Hot Holleys #36-254? How are they?

Thanks for any insight and or help.

I'm no Holley carb expert ---I can get around AFB's

2 books I have have helped me on my Holley--

Holley, Carbs, Manifolds , and FI--Hp books by Mike Urich and Bill Fischer

Holley Carburetors---SA books by Dave Emanuel

Sure helped me to sort out my 650

Hope it helps

Todd,
For professional help with Holleys, I highly recommend you call [or visit] PMR Performance, in Kensington Ct. Probably very close to you. Phil Molski is a first class, hardcore machinist and engine builder. Phil has reworked my twin 600's and Era-FIA's 780 into killer carbs with great manners. Phil uses a carb flow bench and now my 600's are 652's. Also you guys looking for an engine-builder in the Northeast should contact Phil, who just may be the best-kept secret in New England. Quality guy who's easy to talk to. If you need more convincing, ask Bob Putnam, Rich or Doug at ERA about Phil. His phone is 860 828 8828.
Hope this helps,

Todd, if you want your carb tuned to perfection, call BIGS performance in WI. Jesse will take care of you and more than likely when you get your carb back it will kick butt like mine did. I went from crap to gold! Unbelievable, they have been doing carbs for 30+ years and I was reluctant at first to send them my carb with motor and trans/gear info, but my gosh do they know what they're doing! Slapped on the carb, and it idled right where I needed it and was about as crisp as fuel injection when I took it out for it's first run. Plus they coated the carb in a metallic blue and silver which just looks awesome on my car! Sorry for rambling but I couldn't be happier with my new setup!

Todd,

You really picked a wild carb for street use. That carb is one of Holleys Race Ready carbs.
The Holley trick kit for it is number 37-933
The Holley Fast kit is number 37-1546
That carb comes set up with two 30cc accelerator pumps, Double step down leg boosters, four corner idle system and screw in air bleeds. Plenty of room for adjustment.
Is comes out of the box with #76 jets front and rear .031 pump discharge front and rear.
Hope some of this gives you some idea were to start.

Default Step 1

Well I met Phil on Saturday.
I'm glad I did.
He was able to tell me what my car was doing by just a visual inspection of the carb.

I didn't say a word, yet he was able to tell me exactly what troubles I had experienced, and explained why.

Very interesting person.
Seems to know a ton about race motors, carbs, etc, etc.

I will let you all know how the carb runs after I get it back.
I hope this is the end of the carb issues.

His phone number is 860 828-8828 if anyone needs it.

Default PMR

Todd,

Phil built my carb (Holley 750DP) and it’s t*ts , what he don’t know I don’t need. He just assembled a set of AFR 205's for me and I can’t wait. O' he also set up my MSD distributor.

Phil did a great job on the carb.
He set the carb up according to head, cam annd timing specs for street driving. Gave me newe springs for the MSD to bring the iming in sooner. He added another hole in the metering blocks for better emulsion, and blocked off the rear power valve. Changed the front powere valve to a 2.5, and went down two jet sizes.
I put the carb back on and itt starts much better, especially when hot. No more "burn your eyes out" fumes at idle.
I need warmer weather and clean streets for a true road test.
Last Saturday was nice, but the tires were too cold.
They would spin a 35 mph with 3/4 throttle.
Anyway for the $400 it was well spent.
If you have carb troubles talk to Phil.
Actually any perforrmance related troubles, talk to Phil.

Thanks to those who gave me his contact info.
