A good friend of mine uses that alarm from Performance Unlimited. He absolutely raves about it!

I will be ordering one for this driving season and the best thing about it- it's idiot proof; I can install it.

Hey, thanks for posting that site. I have been looking for an easy to install unit for two cars and this looks just perfect. I will be ordering mine Monday.

Looks like a good unit for the price.

But...it also looks like the type that I enjoy setting off in parking lots just by driving by...

Default Update from users of Performance Unlimited alarm

I thought I would resurrect this thread to get an update from those who are using the alarm sold by Performance Unlimited's Cobra Valley.

http://performanceunlimited.com/cobr.../caralarm.html

Do you like it?
Any problems?
Any other observations?

I have been thinking about putting something on my car.

Thanks.

On top of Rick's questions...The site describes a power and ground wire needs to be connected...Are there more details on that install?
Thanks, Ivan

If you want something to keep your car from getting stolen, you might look at this (no affiliation). It is extremely difficult to defeat and is the only company I have ever heard make the claim that they have never had a single vehicle stolen. But it has to be installed by one of their guys. I have it on my cobra and GT500.

http://www.ravelco.com/

If you are on the east coast, I will give you the guy to get it from. You wouldn't even know its there after he installs it.

Just my $.02. Having had several cars stolen in the past I can attest that car alarms are pretty much a joke. Pros can defeat them in seconds. Each car was alarmed, clubbed etc. I would go with a LoJack and/or a quick release steering wheel. If they can drive it with a ViseGrip...god bless 'em.

Only downside is that IF the car is stolen...do you really want it back?

Well I think I may go with setting up an ignition immobilizer and a removable steering wheel setup. So far that seems to be the best options. A brake locking system would be rather handy too.. lol

Along time ago, I went to a brake locking system. There are many available like B&M Roll Control or one by Hurst. The best and yes the most expensive at $340 each is by Mico Hydraulic. There web site is tsmmfg.com/mico_hydraulic_brake_lock.htm. These are designed for brake lines of heavy equipment in the construction industry where cable type emergency brakes could fail becuase of corrosion on the cables. They are not made for use for a long time as your pads could rust in the closed position. The are ideal for disabling your vehicle thought. Push down on the brake pedal and press the button and the solenoid closes mantaining the pressure in the line. I set them up for the rear brakes. Also, consider marking the button on the dash-HORN, howmany car theives would want to press the horn button?
