Does anyone reconize the manufacturer of the unusual cobra body pictured?

No idea.

I have to ask......is that a plexi trunk lid?????

My head hurts thinking why........... maybe to show off luggage???

Than again could it be some type of VW donor kit?

That looks like the display body that was used a few years ago in (I think) Best Buy, for the floor display of car stereo and speaker components.

Look at the two speaker cutouts by the roll bar.

Not a real car body, but a 'replica' of a replica.

Cobrajeff had one a few years ago...and was working on turning the rear clip into a trailer...

Ron,

HOLLY MOLLY. I thinked you pegged it 100%.

I remember that as well.

I did think those were speaker mounts under the rollbar.

Now the question is, who's body did they butcher to make it?

sure would make a great trailer for a cobra!!......and a front clip to hang in the shop making it look like the cobra was coming through the wall!!

Rob,
Why hide the front clip inside the garage.

Why not on the side or top of the garage, outside.

One of those ideas, where the neighbors start talking.

I bought one a couple years ago. The trunk area has been made into a chair. Looks neat in my living room. I don't know how to add a picture so I it into my gallery.

wow! I'm impressed, I thought maybe I had the only one of these around,at first I thought the plexi trunk might be a vw kit ,but the display model does explain the 6x9 speaker holes,(I thought they were for sporty head rests),the one cobrajeff had is exactally like mine, I don't know how they were set up in "best buys" I'm thinking they had some kind of frame it must have set on with wheels, I guess they would'nt have came with any kind of doors, but I'll bet they got all kinds of attention and helped sell alot of stereo's, thanks for all the info, you guy's really know your Cobra's....

Thought just occurred to me. What would be the worse car to put a stereo in?

Second thought. What car has the least amount of stereos installed?

Third thought. Who was the genius that put 6x9s firing upwards?

Default Unknown body

I remember seeing one of these at a local Best Buy electronics store. It had wheels (well, more like hubcaps bolted to plywood circles) and tires, no trunklid, and no doors. There were seats in it, and a console panel that had an array of switches to let you select different stereo speakers and amps. The trunk area had multiple stereo amplifiers in it. Try as I might, I couldn't convince the store manager to sell it to me.

I found another one on e-bay in Chicago (I have since seen two or three more). I drove to Chicago with my enclosed trailer and hauled it home. Here's where I've gotten so far - have nearly completed suspension, and found a deck-lid on e-bay (that'll need work to make it fit). Still haven't figured out how to finish off the front - I'm thinking about maybe a nose-cone for a car trailer, to round it off and enclose the front.

In yet ANOTHER trip to Chicago, I found a half of a 289 FIA fiberglass body on the wall at the Volo Museum -

They said this was a decoration out of the defunct Planet Hollywood restaurant in Chicago. Anyone ever see another one of these, or know who made it? (more images are in my Gallery) The body does not seem to be the same as an ERA, NAF, or a Unique - looks to me more like a 7000 series shape. Even the T/A radials and FIA Halibrands are made out of fiberglass! I am planning to put this one together up in my CS "Hall of Fame". Will probably paint it up in traditional Guardsman Blue w/White stripes.

regards,

cobrajeff

Why is the drivers seat in the trunk facing the wrong way? And whats with the weird gear shift next to it?

I saw one of these on E-Bay a while back being offered for sale as a "real replica" body to build your Cobra with. What a nightmare the buyer bought into on that one!
