Default Call for Auction / Donation Items to Benefit Operation Comfort -

Dear Cobra Faithful,

As our economy continues to struggle, the number and size of donations to charitable organizations is suffering around the globe. This trend has not left our friends at Operation Comfort unscathed. The economic situation is ever present while Janis Roznowski and her staff at OC are striving to serve many Warriors in Transition and their families.

To this end last year, members of the Texas Cobra Club participated in a Charity Track Event at Harris Hill Road and held a small charity auction in conjunction with the 2010 Texas Cobra Meet. Proceeds netted more than $7000 for OC.

For 2011, we are issuing a call to the larger cobra community for participation in one of the following forms to benefit Operation Comfort:

- please donate items for auction at the 2011 Texas Cobra Meet (see TCC contacts below)

- please donate items directly to Operation Comfort (see OC contact below)

- please come to Texas in March and attend the 2011 Texas Cobra Meet (information/registration here)

- please be a track participant at Harris Hill Road (information/registration here)

- please make a PayPal donation directly to OC (click here & don't forget to mention your Cobra Club affiliation)

So far we have items/commitments for 2011 already from numerous Cobra and Operation Comfort individual-enthusiasts and from the following sponsors:

B2 Motorsports
C&S Performance
California Car Cover
Crosslink Powdercoating
Ford Motors - Dallas Corporate
Harris Hill Road
Keith Craft Racing
Kimberly-Clark
Kress Motorsports
Meguiar's
Quik-Latch
Racer's Choice International
Royal Purple
VWR Scientific

Food for thought here -
For a few of us, the cars are our business. For most of us, the cars are our hobby and we do a wide assortment of things professionally. We do business with a range of clients involving all forms of goods and services. Please remember this as you consider donating.

Airline tickets will auction just as well as an MSD box, and FTD flowers as well as a nomex head-sock, likewise golf-balls equal to a chamois, or a certificate for national-chain dining to a dry-cell battery. The point is this, all of us has something, or knows someone who has something of value to the rest of us... something that can be auctioned for or donated to Operation Comfort.

As the staff at OC and Brooke Army Medical Center strive to serve and rehabilitate those who have given so much, we cannot forget the sacrifice that each soldier's family has made and will make over and over for years to come. Donation of items directly to Operation Comfort, with the families in mind, is also a huge benefit. Consider the following:

... a soldier from the midwest is fully engaged in his rehabilitation at Brooke-Army. His or her condition requires frequent therapy and prevents travel out of state. The soldier's veteran-grandfather is celebrating a milestone birthday, perhaps one of his few remaining. The family is of little means, but wishes for their wounded warrior to spend the birthday together with the grandfather. If only the family could afford a round-trip flight...

... a young, military-wife and infant son have relocated from Washington State to San Antonio to be close-at-hand during the wounded husband-and-father's burn rehab. Over the past months, her worry for her husband's rehab and constant care of her son has taken a toll on her youthful look, dress, and demeanor. The rehab nurses suggest she consider some self-indulgence for her husband's benefit. She is reluctant to spend anything on herself. If only she had a hair-cut, make-up gift certificate...

Just two scenarios where the families of wounded warriors are in need and where your donation can go towards helping Operation Comfort meet their needs. Please contact one of us today.
