OK, the non-charging occurred again. This time I took off the alternator and had it checked at the shop. It failed. Got a new one and back on track. Like is said before, it would be much easier if (electrical) things would just fail hard instead of limping intermittenly.
Anyways, I figured the alternator was the culprit, especially since it was chrome!
