The National Championship Barbecue Cook Off
October 23, 2010
Meridian, TX
For those of you that didn’t make this last year this is a double throw down fun time with plenty of good BBQ, car show and entertainment. Maybe we should consider making this a weekend event with a cruise around Lake Whitney.
Gary

A good friend of mine has qualified his BBQ brisket for the competition (taken two first place spots in competition so far), so I will be there.

Man, That sounds like fun!
Gary,
That sounds like a blast & Meridian is really pretty close. I have it on my calendar and will try to make it. The only thing I can see to possibly blow this for me- I know this sounds weird- is if the Rangers are still playing baseball. I have had season tickets for 35 years with only three playoff games to show for it but we might actually make some noise if they can keep this up.
Thanks for the post,
John Russell

I can’t remember who but someone asked about this function Saturday and if it was still on. Yes we had a great time last year just not enough time to enjoy all that BBQ.
As for the weather this should be a great time to do some cruising there are some great areas around Lake Whitney and down towards Gatesville.
So the question is should we make this an overnight trip?
Just Saturday night or a Friday and Saturday trip?

I could be talked into a Saturday night stay--there's a decent hotel overlooking the lake inside the development. Two golf courses, I'm just sayin----. Seriously, there's gated access to the property which gives me warm fuzzies about leaving the soon to be delivered with new KC408 Red BDR unattended. Maybe, just maybe this Friday!

Overnight...for sure. Hey I got a question for the snake bit Texan...How are you going to get your lovely wife, Pings, luggage, emergency tools, and cooler for adult beverages in the confines of your Cobra? Do you have a trailer hitch, or did Rob install a super duty trunk rack? Cobras, friends, bar b que, great conversation, including lying about Golf scores, great back roads to stretch the legs of some fine machines...."Proceless".
LET'S DO IT!

Fedex my man, ship em, play em, ship em! That being said we were just at Lake Whitney for a boys golf weekend and my thoughts were "wish I had the Cobra down here."

Still have my fingers crossed for BDR's return Friday.
Let's do it!

I may come out this in gelcoat. I've got some friends competing and they are requesting a "prop".
