Just ordered it but it includes dyno and tune in the order so I will post specs and dyno numbers down the road. Most likely about 5 or 6 weeks from now.

Kevin,

Did you ever build the one we spoke about earlier this year? Yep I'm like a kid in the Candy Store again buying cool stuff for my new project. Looking forward to this engine combination in my new car....

Congrats Gary!

Check and see if you want to have the TKO600 "rubbed" before installation.

My KC 496 is over 600 hp, and does not like 2-->3rd shifts.

I have checked around, and it is not the clutch, it's the transmission not slowing down enough between shifts at 2nd to 3rd.

I am going to pull the tranny out this winter and send it to Keisler to get it modified. I also have the throwout bearing leaking (McLeod), so I need to take it out anyway.

Good Luck on your build, This might hold you over until your dyno

It's getting exciting. We should start the block machining next week. I wanted to wait until I had all of the parts, in case something came up. I wrote a long post here last night, to start the build blog. At the end I clicked on the spell check, and must have hit a wrong key, as it erased the entire thing !

Oh well.

Here is a parts list of the sponsored products so far. I still,.... have to make my mind on the type of cam. It's been 50/50% here on CC if a solid roller cam will make it o the street. Some of the thought is higher HP & RPM, the other is the unmistakable sound of a solid roller.

My two best buds that have the auto shop and chassis dyno and, that we race 360 winged sprint cars with, all along have said the solid roller. I'm hoping that with the Isky EZ-Roll lifters will not have an issue !

What do you think ?

The Cobra God has been very good to me, supplying me with top quality manufactures and their parts. Again, what do you think ?
It's been a long hard road but, I'm very pleased.

BLOCK- Genesis Performance Castings
CRANK- Ford Motorsports custom 527 cid Stroker.
RODS- Callies
PISTONS-Mahle pistons.
HEADS- Edelbrock Victor polished.
VALVETRAIN- ISKY (custom grind mechanical roller, EZ-Roll needle free roller lifters, "Tool Room" 9000 series springs, access- kit)
PUSHRODS- Smith Brothers
FASTENERS- ARP. All Internal bolts and external polished 12 point polished bolts.
INTAKE- Edelbrock WATER PUMP- Edelbrock polished (I also have one but we may use a Shelby)
DAMPNER- Innovators West- billet dampner
CARB.- Quick Fuel
PULLEY'S- March Performance Pulleys. First three pulley serpentine belt system for Ford FE. Pretty cool.
OIL PUMP- Precision Oil Pumps. Blue Printed for better flow for the Side Oiler engine.
FUEL PUMP- ROBBMc- up to 1,100 HP "Dual Mode", fuel pump with regulator, mounting bracket and adjustable spring kit.
DISTRIBUTOR- MSD billet & 6 AL Box. Possibly their new 7 box.
PLUG WIRES- Taylor 9 mm.
SPARK PLUGS- Denso. One V-8 set per year for the lifetime of the engine from Sparkplugs.Com
OIL PAN- Canton. Road race with all accessories. Canton Accusump 3-qt oil system with all lines, hose ends, electric ignition activated switch, oil cooler adapter, windage tray, oil pick-up, drive shaft, canister fuel filter and breather/catch can. They custom made the breather with two AN fittings that connect to my valve covers.
BELLHOUSING- QuickTime
FLYWHEEL & CLUTCH- Ram. Their new RAM Force 10.5 dual disc and aluminum flywheel.
TRANSMISSION- Tremec TKO 600 w .64 overdrive.
WHEELS- Team III Wheels. Cobra replicas.
VALVE COVERS- Ansen Custom engraving. With approved Carroll Shelby signature and cobra snake.
DASH GAUGES- Full gauge set from NISONGER, which replicates the original "Smith" cobra gauges. 180 reverse speedo.

The company below will be making some custom CNC machined parts for me. In return, I will market these products for Cobras, on some of the websites that the engine project will be on, including here on club cobra.

Air cleaner assembly.- (mine will read 527 COBRA, for the cubic inches)

Air cleaner nuts.Radiator overflow tank.Oil vapor tank (puke tank) Valve covers.Valve cover air breathers. Radiator support covers.Individual numbers, letters, badges. Cobra snake emblem's. Alternator and other brackets.Trim rings for the shifter & e-brake boots, door hinges Dual fan assembly mounting frame/brackets, battery box. Ect....

E- "I have checked around, and it is not the clutch, it's the transmission not slowing down enough between shifts at 2nd to 3rd".

What is meant by "Rubbed" ?

Are you kidding me, what's up with that ?

What is the problem & why doesn't Tremec fix the problem ?

In fact, what does Tremec say about it ?

What will Keisler modify & how much ?

It concerns me even more having a aluminum flywheel !

Thumbs up Car by car, they get nastier

Gary,
This one is going to be a real beast. I remember the black and gold 427 Windsor in Austin where we felt like the car was going to pull the front wheels when you hit second.... I think this bad boy will actually do it.
Good choices my friend!!!

Gary,

I'm with you! Today I paid my engine builder to order my aluminum 427 FE block. He is concerned about building it too radical because we can't use a single plane intake and he doesn't believe a dual plane intake will provide enough air for the motor. Any thoughts?

Have to say I've never heard of a dual plane not suppling enough air to a motor before. Keith Craft has built a ton of these 482/496 motors with big HP and some of my friends have had them and again knowone seemed to have that problem. I know Keith port matches the intake to the heads which would help the flow. Also, never heard about the TKO 600 2/3rd trans issue either. I've had 6 Cobras in the past but all were either 4 speed top loaders or TKO 5 speeds. Never had a TKO 600 but again many Cobra buddies do and never heard of anyone mentioning this issue. Might be interesting to start a separate post on both of these and see what response come about...
