Grand Saline Cruise - November 13
I hope this fine weather never ends, as I look forward to events coming over the next few weeks.
Some of the DFW east-siders are considering a day outing to Grand Saline, TX on Saturday, November 13. The town is hosting the Great American Peanut Butter Festival.
Highlights of the day will be:
- a parade beginning at 10:00am
(TCC - DFW will be staged as entry 6 - staging begins at 8:30am)
- reserved cobra parking along the Historic Main Street drag
(following the parade)
- a World Record PB&J Sandwich attempt
It is about a 60 mile highway cruise from Loop 635 and IH-30. This is of course weather permitting, which the organizers understand. Everything is free, just bring some lunch money and a little extra for homemade peanut butter, etc.
With some planning, we could arrange to take the long way home.
Asking all interested parties to look at their calendar and chime in with 50% or better probability of attending - trying to get a head count.

I'm sitting here in northern California, silicon valley, with a perfectly ready to roll Backdraft.......and I was born and raised in Grand Saline, Texas.
Shredded many a tire on that two block main street in the mid 60's with a little Hi-Po 289 Mustang fastback, which of course I wish I still had.
We have a place in Hideaway, Texas (Lindale area) that is our destination sooner or later. Hope to hook up with some of you in that area when that day comes.
Have fun!

We could tack on a stop at the “Country Tavern” for a plate of their word famous ribs, not that far out of the way.

Dear All,
Those of us planning on going to Grand Saline this weekend are keeping an eye on the weather forecast. My sources tell me once the rain clears on Friday evening, the weekend will be dry.
Weather permitting, the parade organizers have our contingent of the Texas Cobra Club staged towards the front of the line (hoofstock will be in the back of the line). Expected participants besides TCC include local diginitaries, Grand Saline's State Representative Dan Flynn (R), Miss Texas USA, and media from Channel 7 and Channel 19 as well as the New York Times.
Upon arrival to town, we will head to the parade staging area at the corner of Main and High Streets. This should be around 9am if we rendezvous and depart from Mesquite on time.
So far we have as participants:
Richard P
Eric
Greg
Richard R
Colin
Jack
Gary
Francis (?)

Ok, sad but quick tale; on the way to a meeting just a half mile from home I ran over what in my CLS would be a rock but in the Cobra was a $#@&*% boulder. Yes, you guessed it, a hole in the oil pan causing her to leave a trail of Valvoline all the way home. AAA is picking her up in the morning for a visit to her friends at C&S.
My goal is to have her back in time for Saturday's PB cruise--more details as we get closer.
