Default Legal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Out here in far west Texas it took 4.5 months to get a DMV inspection by our police department. They have only one officer doing the inspections twice a week. Got the call I was set up of 12-29-11 told "Do not miss appointment our you go to bottom of list" I then get a call on 1-08-11 the officer that was conducting the inspections retired!!!!!!!!!!! Al most had a "**** FIT" but was told to show up on 11 -06-11.

Drove up and yesterday and 4 officer immediately yelled out "WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU EVER SINCE WE READ ON THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WHAT YOU WERE BRING."!!!!

Small crowed of individuals getting their cars inspected gathered around my car. One young women said "This car is a chick magnet"

When I fired up to leave one of the officers yelled out "I NEED A CIGARETTE"!!!

pics of officer that conducted inspection & tags.

I am confused when I got mine titles all I need was the green sheet from the inspection station, MSO, proof of insurance and 10 minutes I walked out of a Houston Courthouse with a title. Why was a dmv inspection required and why not just a state inspection??

For some reason that inspector looks like an under cover DEA agent.

I do not know why in El Paso we have to have DMV before we pay the clerk for our title, but we do. The state inspection was a smap.

What do they inspect? When I bring a vehicle (even a brand new one on MSO) from out of state, I have to have a VIN verification done. In our town I called the local sheriff's office (who contract with the town as the police). They called me back I told them I'd meet them at town hall in 3 minutes, they said no problem, we'll be right up and they met me in 3 minutes. No big deal. Why does it take so long there? What else do they do?

When I first went to get the cobra legal the clerk stated I needed a state inspection sticker/form & had to make an appointment with the local police to run the vin #'s on car & motor to make sure they were not stolen goods even though I had all invoices for the car, motor ect. The officer checked the vin # on the frame, looked at the invoices for motor ,trans and rear end. They singed the motorized form that I had to get motorized first and this what I needed to get my car registered. WHY is the the way it's done in EP ???? Don't have the answerer but all the cobras in our group have gone this way.

It was the courthouse that verified the receipts in Houston. Its over, car is gorgeous. I drove through el paso about 3 months ago, you have some sweet roads to open it up on!! I cannot beleive how big Juarez has gotten it went on for ever.

Congratulations, Charles!

I'm originally from El Paso--I see that the first photo was taken on the East side (the "A" for Austin High School is easily seen), but I don't recognize the intersection on Montana. Which cross-street was it (and was it the 3000 block of Montana, as the photo seems to indicate)?

It's at the old Sears building at 5 points...Montana and Piedreas. The El Paso PD now uses the old Sears building as their headquarters and the old auto Sears garage is behind the main building where they do the inspections.

Everything is done bigger in Texas. Been through this 6 times and about to do it again as just finishing my new car. I agree they really get charge up over a Cobra coming in but I guess after you inspect all those other cars all day this would be a refreshing change.

Congrats on your car....looks great!
