Wood Bros and Ford "Win Daytona 500"
How cool was it to see the Wood Brothers and Ford win the Daytona 500 with 20 year old Trevor Bayne! Must of been the tribute to David Pearson and his colors from 1975 Daytona 500 winning Mercury................Very Cool!!!

Blue Ovals sweep the top three spots.
1. Bayne
2. Edwards
3. Gilland
How sweet it is.

I wonder how long before we hear the Chevy boys crying like little girls that something was "foul"?

Could not agree more ...
Great racing ... and the nose to tail 'pushing' done at over 200 mph ... simply amazing.

A terrific finish to an otherwise terrible race. Later tonight NASCAR will find a rules violation on the first 3 cars.

I actually wouldn't doubt that a bit.
When Chevy isn't in the top 3, someone has to be cheating, right?
I wish I knew how many times NASCAR and NHRA has changed the rules because Ford was on top. I guess Chevrolet and Walmart makes NASCAR money.

Exciting but not a good situation when a driver must depend on a 'back seat driver' to push him into the lead. I'd much rather see a thirty car pack, at least the best cars would run to the front. Restrictor plate racing at its worst. That being said, the non racing fan must have loved all the crashes.

Have to agree to toss the restrictor plate and let them race like the cars of the early and mid 70s. Boy it was awesome hearing those big Hemi's and Boss 429s screaming down the straights at Daytona and Tallegada.....those were the days of real NASCAR racing!!!!

Looked a lot like the Bithlo, Fl. "Trailer races"...
Besides, tomorrow NASCAR will declare all Fords are to have 1200 pounds added to them and THE DRIVERS OF SAME ARE TO START TWENTY LAPS BACK.....
There was a time when NASCAR WAS relevant, sadly, that time has passed and now most any SCCA or NASA event will have better competition......at least real people racing real cars without the WWE control.
Next years rules will require better hitches for the "tow" car to control the "pusher"car and will allow elimination of the second, redundant driver who will now be an extra crewman allowed over the wall to clean sponsor decals and shine the paint.

Hitch 2 together and run in a figure 8 like the demolition derby stuff. I doubt there'd be more wrecks though.

I liked the dual hookup thing. Man, can you imagine the stress of being in the back, unable to see and driving mostly on "faith"? I thought it was an awesome spectical.

Stupid move of the day, has to go to David Ragan's team. They discussed the restart and never thought about him moving down into the inside before the white line. He may have won the race.
A driver should know the rules however the crew chief should have been thinking and talking it through with the driver.
Oops, Blickensderfer said they did discuss it.

Gary you are Soooooo right.
They need to devise a formula (maybe reduce the CID) whereby the plates are removed on all the tracks. Let them pass when they can instead of being towed and pushing.

Messing with the engines won't do anything. They will always find a way to overcome the modifications. The real answer is to change the rear end ratios and make it mandatory for everyone to run the same gears. When you're in danger of spinning one of these pushrod V-8s to 12,000 RPM, you will slow down or detonated the hardware. Another easy fix is to reduce the tire footprint. Nascar could do either one of these changes tomorrow and it wouldn't cost a nickle. Letting them run flat out like the "old days" makes cars fly. Never a good thing!

The pair racing thing is upon us at the big tracks because NASCAR flattened the fronts of the cars thus allowing one car to easily push another. Before this change the front of the pushing car would go under the rear of the leading car and pick up the back end. With this new square nose "bump drafting" does not unweight the rear wheels of the leading car, and going nose to tail all the way around the track is possible.

So happy for the Wood Brothers! They really deserved it....and more.
With Trevor wheeling that car, I hope they can win more races this year.
It is fun rooting for them.
David Pearson must have really enjoyed it too!
Go Wood Brothers!
