Running temperature...in texas?

Guys,

What should the temperature guage read on these vehicles in Texas 103 degree heat? BTW those exhaust pipes are hot on the ankles aren't they !!! haha.

Who the heck is driving a Cobra when it is a 103 degrees outside. I took mine to the last Cobra breakfast July 1st and it was 95 and humid at 10:30am coming home and it was like sitting in front of a open oven door. Not fun at all but the car was running about 85c coming up the tollway and bumped up to about 95 sitting at a light. Way to hot and not enjoyable at all...

Thats what I thought :-) Thanks Gary...It just arrived and i had to take for a quick spin....of course 10 minutes into it I too realized that it was 'not fun' and went back home..... sharpish :-)

We took mine out yesterday for the 1st time since I put the new dual pass radiator in. 100 outside, cruising at 198, stopped at light/sat in traffic hit 215. In an attempt to keep my new radiator from getting dinged up by rocks this time I put a piece of SS mesh screen in front, knowing it was going to restrict the flow also. May pull it out and see how much difference it makes. One thing for sure, since we're finally getting some rain here in Houston, with the 100 degree days, it's TOO DAMN HOT.

In Houston when its 100F late in the day (4PM) with 30% humidity my cast-iron FE runs at thermostat temps (185F) down the highway. At idle or in stop-and-go traffic it will creep up maybe 5-10 degrees, but I haven't seen 200F since installing the Taurus fan.

I'll second that!

Here in Lake Havasu City, AZ. it's 95 degrees at 6:00AM and just gets hotter until about 4:00 PM topping out at 110 +.
When the cobra goes out it's early AM , put a soft towell on the seat, a cold bottle of water, cap...and hit it!

My car runs about 195 with "no fan on". on the highway at speed. It stays at 195 degrees with Taurus fan "on low speed" until I get in heavy stop & go traffic, then "high speed ' pulls it back to 195, never gets over 205.
It's all about being able to control the air flow and keeping the engine temp. under control.

Mr car is already electric. I just use the 427 to recharge the battery.
