Default Transmission issue fixed--"Duh!"

I posted a thread seeking advice for my 3550 which at the time would only shift into 1, 3rd and 5th. It turns out a change of fluid and adjusting the rear throw restrictor bolt (hense the "duh") gave me an early Christmas present, a working transmission! I changed the fluid first which did not fix the problem because the issue was the bolt which had backed out restricting the shifter travel.

That's one heck of a diagnosis. How did you get there to determine that it was a bolt and fluid..? the outcome is a huge relief.

When this started we were in South Dakota with our group. I lost 4th on the next to last day of our (fantastic) cruise. The next morning on the way to the airport she shifted fine until it warmed up then once again no 4th. The only thing that could be was fluid. Changed the fluid when the car arrived back in Texas and that seemed to solve the problem. However at the beginning of our monthly meet/cruise I totally lost 2nd, 4th and R, all gears that require the shifter to be pulled back towards the driver. The "light bulb" came on and whew, a little adjustment and Loc-tite and I'm back in biz!
