I had an old family friend that owned a Porsche repair shop in Southern California back in the 70's. He was working under a car and pulled the car off of the jack stands some how. I was young, so I don't remember how he did it, but I have always been leary of jack stands after that. He survived, but was injured pretty bad.

For removing a Porsche engine (or bug) you just need some room and it is very easy with the back on jacks ----- BUT you have to secure the car, may times I saw guys pulling engines without that...now you experienced that first hand.

Jack up front and put cinder blocks under the front tires, jack up rear and put cinder blocks under the rear.. No ramps used.. I think you're missing the whole point here...

Do you seriously not understand, or are you just trolling..?
#1 - I want to be able to pull in and park in my garage on ramps or a lift.
#2 - I can't swing a lift right now, so ramps are the solution.
#3 - I want to be able to walk out in the garage and immediately be able to go under the car without spending time jacking up the car.
#4 - I want to be able to walk up to my car in the garage at any time and be able to work under the hood without having to bend over so much.
#5 - I want to be able to do alignments without having to jack up and drop down the car over and over while making adjustments. I don't think that cheap plastic Chinese ramps will allow for freely turning the wheels back and forth in order to get the caster set.
#6 - I like the look of the car sitting in an elevated position in the garage
#7 - I like to build things myself.
#8 - Ramps, because that's what I want.

There are many ways to skin this cat... Hell, you could yank the thing up from the roll-bars if you want to add another.
The point is Stoney FFR comes on here with a great solution that it clearly works for him (...and seemingly others), he should be commended for sharing.

front ramps I like very much, im not slamming your idea, I can do much easier on the rear side, and your idea is great, dont slam me for being lazy.

Be weary of cinder blocks, remember reading in the newspaper of a local person doing this to work on his car. The blocks crumbled after he was under the car, he was survived by 2 young daughters and a wife. Very sad...
