New engine back from Keith
Continuing the aftermath .. new short block was required, saved the heads, valves, Erson roller rockers, manifold, water pump, front cover. Installed new Aviaid Cobra 10 qt road race pan with tray. H-beam rods, steel crank, Precison blueprinted oil pump with 120# spring. Stayed with the mild roller cam. It made 591 HP - 604 TQ on Keith's dyno.
Beginning to put all this crap back in the goose ...
Block damage photo, note breakout of cyl liner and hole in water jacket ...
Crank, note burned up rod journals ...
#2 piston, I think ...
The piston was all I kept, no room here for unusable stuff. So the failure mode was rod bearing failure due to insufficient lubrication at high rpm .. duh!. But I am still unsure of the role of the water vapor in the right side exhaust and the fouled #3 plug in the immediate prior track session.
Anyway .. stop by if you want to see this going back into #745
