The owner did get the car inspected today with no issues and he's ready to go his local courthouse to do the title transfer paperwork on Friday. Then I'll have a vehicle with current inspection and registration for the drive back home. Then it will be a little 7 hour drive in 100 + temps to get back home. I better pack the sunscreen.
Edit: it appears you already purchased the car, so take the following with a grain of salt.

Having been here on Club Cobra for many years, I have yet to see anyone speak so disdainfully about Jaycobras. Perhaps he struck a nerve with you as a cobra newbie, or perhaps your own "A" type personality feels slighted (face it, we are all "A" types here), however, you are soon to find out that the Cobra community is a small one, one where we rarely make enemies, and almost always retain knowledge and wisdom from those who know more than others. As such, might I suggest that you take a step back from your venomous post(s) and open your mind to what others may be telling you. Again, I'll say it as someone who has responded to far more requests for information than you can imagine. Also someone who has owned multiple Cobras (23 as of this month) of all shapes, sizes, makes and models. From reading your posts, it appears as you are hot and heavy for a particular car, perhaps due to it's price point, perhaps due to it's color or drivetrain combination, regardless, your judgement is being clouded by your passion, again, I suggest taking a step back and thinking long and hard about the facts vs what the seller may be telling you. Take that step away from the car for a bit (if it is meant to be, it is meant to be, if not, then you already know the answer), read this forum (do a search , you will be amazed at what is contained in the archives), and reread what others have stated, both current posts and in the past. Learn from these posts, that is one of the best features of this forum, that and the comradeship that hanging out here brings.

Yes, Jays seemingly curt response rubbed me the wrong way. I never understand why someone takes the time to respond to a new guys simple question with why don't you use search instead of just answering the question. I did search but didn't find the chaser to my particular situation. Probably I didn't use the right search query, but still a response of use the search wasn't helpful.

As a member of multiple other forums got a variety off other interests, I have never answered a question from another member with why don't you use search. It's hard to get the proper inflection of a persons posts when you're not actually speaking to a person and both of Jays posts came across a condescending.

If they were not meant that way, I apologize to Jay. Other members steered my in the right direction and I got the answer I needed, and I thanked those members for their help.

I appreciate the information I received from the forum and have been reading the archives which contain lots of good information.

Thanks for your input, If someone posts something that rub me the wrong way, I'll step away from the keyboard and think before engaging my fingers and replying.

Thanks Les de NA5AA

Thanks Bill for the kind words and defense but I am at the point in my life that really doesn't take offense to anything that doesn't effect my family and friends. You and I have know each other for so long we are used to each others posts and means of helping. You go out of your way with you answers and patience. I am just a little more direct and to the point. I know that I don't have to *****foot with those that know me and that that don't...just don't matter to me anyway.

I hope that the new owner returned home safely from his trip and I welcome him warmly to any Texas Cobra Club function At least now he remembers the difference between DMV and the county tax office.

By the way dafuser no appologies needed. Like I said I am a crusty old fart.

Dafuser:
I'm betting you bought Roy's Lonestar. Nice car.
You'll need to drop in to the Lonestar forums as well.

You'll need to join us for a cruise now that you're in "the neighborhood".

Dafuser:

Don't expect much love for the Lone Star's on this forum even though they are, IMO, superior to the Factory Fives. Recent sales prices bear this out. You've bought a nice car. Join the Lone Star forum and enjoy.

In Dafuser's defense, I have spent untold hours on this and other forums in the "search" mode to no avail. MAybe my feeble mind can't fully grasp the "keyword" concept, but I have very few results for so much time expended.
MY post count is not large, but I"ve been here since 2001, and I think a prospective new member deserves a warm welcome. Plenty of time for admonissions (sp) later.

How difficult will it be to get the cars registration and safety inspection current in Texas again? It will still be registered in Texas, just a different county where it was last registered.
Didn't read the entire Thread, might be a repeat, a few results when using CC Search with " Texas registration " as the search term:

New Registration Law in Effect in Texas

SB-100 in Texas

Excuse me, but I take issue with what you say. There is nothing wrong with this forum and particularly the Texas Cobra Club sub-area. I have met and socially spent time with many people on this forum and don't recall anybody dissing someone else's car because it a Lone Star, Hurricane, CSX, or Factory Five. I have seen some damn crappy Lone Stars and some really nice ones. Same goes for Factory Five. It really comes down to how the person built the car. In any event claiming one brand is superior to another brand is just asking for an argument. Sales price doesn't really prove much of anything since both brands value are heavily dependent on craftsmanship and parts that are used to build the car.

So you have a nice day too..

BTW, Jay... You need to get back up to LCS soon. There were several people that dropped your name when they found out I was from DFW..

Welcome Dafuser. I know the car you purchased. Roy did a good job with it. Sorry he wanted to sell. He will be missed. Hopefully Roy will swing by the cruises we have. Enjoy your hotrod dude!

Uh, really? Haven't you read any of the "my fake cobra is better than your fake cobra" threads that appear with regularity here?

Really, I intended no offense but I didn't do a very good job of explaining my comment. It stems from a number of threads where any fake cobra that doesn't try to emulate an original is viewed as sub-standard. That particularly gets applied to Lone Star's and Backdraft's, et al, with stretched bodies. what cracks me up is that these comments come from people driving around in "perky butted" FFR's.

I love all cobras. It's all good. Sorry to pick on the FFR. I was just clumsily trying to point out to a new guy a little Lone Star history on this forum.

Default Welcome to Club Cobra...The world's largest non-biased Cobra site!

Dafuser,

You’re about to have the most fun you’ve ever had with an automobile… largely due to the people you will meet as well as the friends you will make.

Now that you’re officially a Cobra owner I’d suggest you start another thread and tell us more about the car – Including photos!!

Best wishes.

Nope, not here in the Texas Cobra Club forum area! I presume your talking about other areas of Club Cobra.. I'm glad I don't waste my time in other areas if that's what goes there..

I just got back from LCS and saw just about every brand and talked to a ton of owners. Not one owner came across acting like their car was superior to my Factory Five Roadster. Just a bunch of mutual appreciation of the cars, hobby and each other..

The Texas Cobra club is about the people not the cars. Doesnt matter if you own a cobra or not all is welcome to enjoy the fun.
The attitude of my make of cobra is better than your make of cobra is not tollerated in the TCC. Thats why the TCC is a family.
