Dallas area speed shops?
I'm needing Earls and/or Russells 8AN fittings, braided fuel lines, fuel filter, etc. I can order online from summitt racing, JEGs, etc., but would rather go somewhere and pick it up in person.
Can anyone recommend a retail location - preferably on the south side- Mansfield, Arlington, Grand Prairie -
Also - what brand and weight of conventional gear lube would you run in a Ford 9" solid axle, positraction differential (clutch-less)
thanks!
(HM-2008 build thread coming soon)

I believe Jay Nordstrom owns some interest in one in Garland maybe called ET Speed Shop.

ET is in Garland but I do not have anything to do with them any longer
Do not know of any shops south but do have one over here by me that carries AN stuff and braided hoses.
Clois is right on the 75-90 gear oil. I also add some gear climbing additive just in case.

Thanks guys, good information. Sounds like Smiley's in Kennedale is close by a good selection. I'll check it out.
I'm also checking out Summitracing.com - The parts list is adding up and I may have to just order online to save money and wait the extra week. I was hoping to make good progress on the build this holiday weekend but maybe not so much now...
But its always good to know of a local store in case of emergencies.

Bob:
Smiley's in Kennedale is a good one to get familiar with. They have race fuel too. I-20 to 287 South about a mile - on the left.
I use Warehouse Auto in Irving for my AN fittings and fuel line. They have a good selection of black fittings and hose and the traditional red/ blue fittings with stainless hose.
Harry's Hot Rod is also in Grand Prairie off Main Street.

Bobby, Summit is great if you know exactly what you want. Their standard shipping gets here on day 3. If you have a weekend wrenching availability coming and you figure out something you absolutely have to have at 7 pm, they have delivered an overnight shipment to me before noon the next day. And they have a liberal return policy.

Smiley's in Mesquite is the way to go.
Actually, you can get Smiley himself to come out and help you. No lie. I went in there trying to plumb an EFI 8-stack, and Smiley came up and asked what I was doing. He helped me for 45 minutes and what he didn't have, he was on the phone with a manufacturer trying to get one made--all the while having me sit in his office chair and listen on the speaker phone! For real...
Smiley's (Mesquite) will also take returns after trial and error.
It's worth the trip.
Ask for Smiley--it's worth it.
Best,
Paul

I have bought several sets of Hoosier slicks from Smiley's over the last 12 or so years. Great people to deal with and fair priced.

x2. Smiley is a great guy. I had the same kind of experience, just browsing around the store and a guy comes up to see if I need any help. It was Smiley himself and he was extremely helpful.
They do have lots of fittings and hose. Should have everything you need in that area.
