Default Travel time to Farmers Branch

Guys;
I'm coming into the Dallas area on I-20 from Louisiana, I'll take highway 80 at Terrell on to the 635 loop, then northwest around Dallas on the 635 loop to 35E, I'll get on 35E heading north to Farmers Branch, I have to meet a guy at Duntov Corvette in Farmers Branch, looks to be a mile or so up 35E......

I know how long it takes me to get to the 635 loop from my house, my question is about how long should it take once I'm on the 635 loop to get to 35E/Farmers Branch?????

I'll be towing a trailer with a car on it, not sure of the speed limit on 635, but I don't tow any faster than 75 mph.....
I'm supposed to meet the guy at the Vette place around noon Monday, so I'm guessing traffic should not be to bad at that time........

Just trying to figure out what time I need to leave home...

Thanks;
David

It's about 25 miles from the time you get on 635.
635 is under major construction from I75 to I35 so that will likely add a few minutes.
Plus 635 has frequent accidents so that can add time.
If no problems, then 30 minutes should be enough time.

I just want to say THANKS to John, not only for the info on my travel time, but for what else he did....

John sent me a PM with his cell number and told me to call him Monday morning when I was nearing the 635 loop and he would get a local traffic update and let me know if there were any problems and give me an alternate route!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called him and things were good to go.........

It's really first class for I guy that I've never met to go out of his way to help another guy like that.......
Maybe someday I'll get a chance to repay the favor.......

Again, thanks a million John......

David

David,
Wow, thanks for the kind words. Glad I could help, it was really no trouble at all. Nice chatting with you and hope everything went well with the car deal. Hope to run into you some time.

635 north loop is a nightmare especially between 75 and I35E so if you have to come that way stay away from the rush hours times.

tell me about it, I went was going up I35E about one mile or so..........actually at the time I was going and coming from there it wasn't as bad as I expected........

As John advised when I hit the 635 loop, it took no more than 30 minutes to get to my destination......which wasn't too bad,considering the construction going on there................

Getting a "tour" of the Duntov Corvette shop was worth it, that place has some serious stuff in there........

Alan and Edwin are good guys. I paddocked with them at Road Atlanta during the Mitty this year. VERY competitive in vintage racing nationaly .

Did they tell you about losing the transport? Rumor has it the whole trailer went up in flames. Three guys I race against lost their cars, including Tony P. who owns SVRA.

No, I was to interested at looking at the stuff in the shop....it was in the noon hour when I got there and most of the guys were out to lunch, the lady up front gave me the tour....she said the shop was almost empty (Looked full to me) as they had raced this past weekend on the west coast and the cars were in transit back to the shop..

They must have a second transport. From one Corvette forum and another fellow vintage racer, the whole rig was destroyed, which included 3 race cars and one of their replica Grand Sports. Something like a trailer wheel bearing caught on fire. I don't believe the Duntov car was onboard. Only hearsay, nothing confirmed on my part.

The Duntov car was in the shop when I was there, the black one right??? forgot the number on the side....
The lady didn't say anything about the transport/cars, only that they raced the past weekend on the west coast....

The had the Duntov car on a platform doing some work on it,the front brakes/suspension was mostly off the car....they had 2 bare race chasis's on platforms/jigs, looked they were recently sandblasted and were doing some serious work on those two, a couple of more cars in the corners under car covers........parts all over the place......

In the noon hour, most all employees were out to lunch,one tall,skinny guy in an office and the lady up front,that was it.....as we were leaving the shop, 4 or 5 guys, I'd assume were employees came in from their lunch hour....

Talked with Alan yesterday and he conformed the whole rig went up in flames, including the tractor trailer. The rig was new, only three events this year. The old rig was used for the trip to the west coast. They do think it was a trailer bearing caught fire, which spread to the wood floor. Barrels of race fuel did the rest.

Last time I "paddocked" with them a crew member said the Duntov race car had been set aside to develope customer cars. Alan said they are swmped now because they have to build 4 cars to replace the loss, including two before the CoTA race in October. So insurance must have been in-place. Lucky for them.

I've never considered their product race cars, more like space ships, they're so damn fast....

Looks like they were already swamped with work before the fire....... I wasn't in the shop for more than about 15 minutes, but did get a real good look at the Duntov car and yes, it is a serious car!!!!!!! jokingly,I told the lady I didn't want the car, only what it cost to get it to the point it was in!!!!
