TCC Stats
Ed/Steve/Gregg - I run the stats on the club a couple of times a year and was about half done when your post came up. This is not a poll, but info based on the web site membership roster. Until we can get a poll up and going, this may suffice.
As of December 19,2001, the Texas Cobra Club is up to 179 members and 122 Cobras based on the web site membership roster. Some are in a build stage or on order and it appears that there are about 107 driveable cars in the club.
Here are stats on cars driven and where we live:
Factory Five Racing.....18......15%
Lone Star Classics.....16.......13%
Superformance..........16.......13%
Everett Morrison........13.......11%
Classic Roadsters.......13.......11%
ERA.....................11......9%
Unique..................6........5%
Shell Valley............5........4%
CMC.......................5........4%
2 each from RUCC, West Coast, SMC &Component Craft,
1 each from Autocraft, B&B, Butler, Dax, Faspac, LA Exotic, Midstates, B&B, Cobraette, SAI, Contemporary, and Integrity, Shamrock, Laser & Legend.
Of the 179 members:
Dallas/Ft. Worth area...79.......44%
Austin/San Antonio etc..40.......22%
Houston area............36.......20%
Corpus/Beeville/Victoria 4.......2%
Tyler................... 3....... 2%
Waco/West, Del Rio, Lockhart….2
Out of State (OK, KS, TN, LA, GA............ 5
1 member each from Abilene, Vernon, Manvell, Palestine, Gilmer, Wichita Falls,
You can check how the club has grown since February 2001 at:
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...ighlight=stats
Wouldn't be something to gather a hundred Cobras in Austin!!!
I think the numbers are reasonably accurate although I did receive an e-mail from Al Gore requesting a recount.

I should be able to set that up in a few mins. I can reproduce that same poll on the TCC section, add 3 other options -- CMC, RUCC, and "Other". Or more if I'm still not thinking of some others.
Any other specifics you want on the poll?
As an option, I can create a formal survey (but it will have to be sometime next week as I need to fly out of here again early in the morning). This would have a few questions -- like mfgr, engine, color, city, etc? Interested?
Cheers,
-Neil.

Looks Great!
Neil; Looks great, sorry about not replying, I thought I did.
Can you do a lock out if somebody tries to do a multiple submital (like Brent Mills poll) to avoid skewing of the results.

NICE JOB DICK!!!!!!!!
Dick,
Nice job on the "poll of our roll" of our membership stats. This is probably as accurate as anything we would ever need, and any other type of "voting" poll could be very easily skewed if posted on the club by members voting that have never joined the TCC but choose to vote here( sort of like a rather nasty/mean spirited post by a ja** to another thread..........lives in CAlifornia).Since Dick is in charge of our web site and has the most up to date records, what was posted is as accurate as we need.
Just my opinion..........but a good idea and topic.

John, Dick, and Neil; Thanks for the inputs and effort to publish the TCC stats. (The poll had me worried about the skewing problem.)
Dick; Since you are the keeper of the stats, can you put up a seperate link on the TCC web site and post the current stats? May be you can update it twice a year for all to see.
Is it also possible to include additional stats on color, engine CID, and town/location?

TCC stats on web site
Ed - a page with stats on the club is possible and I will try to work on it early next year.
In January, I generally post a membership roll call to correct member information, new cars, e-mail addresses, etc. This year I am going to stress a response from members to remain on the membership roster. I don't see the need in keeping people on the roster who don't own a car, never attend a function, don't respond to e-mails and never participate in ClubCobra.
Hopefully by the end of January, we can clean up our membership roster and at that time I will add a web page with stats. Updating the page in January and July should work. Thanks for the suggestion.

Slavedriver! :-)
Ed -- Was hoping you wouldn't ask for that, cause that would actually require me to think. But oh well, I've put that in now. However, as you noticed, I didn't bother with aesthetics or bullet-proofing, so if engine displacement is left blank, if causes a problem. Working on a quick fix and will let you know.
John -- you said "This is probably as accurate as anything we would ever need". Not sure of this, cause the stats above show 1 CMC as of Dec 19, and I know of 3 here in Texas. Yes, the club roster is the best place for this, but until then, a little side-survey wouldn't hurt, would it? Yes, it may not provide more accurate info, but a purposeful poll may produce better results, and it will provide more info for the set of respondents.
Quiz -- Any of you know what holiday it is today here in Trinidad?
-Neil.

Neil; Don't make the email address optional. Key off of the email address to prohibit double entries. Other wise it looks good to me.

Neil - like I said - "I think the numbers are reasonably accurate"
Sometimes it is hard to tell what car someone owns from the information I receive...especially when it comes to CMC. John Standridge sent me information that his car is a "Contemporary Classis Motor Car w/429". Looking back, I'm not sure if this makes sense...Contemporary and CMC I believe are two different companies. Danny Humphrey sent me a message that he wanted to join and owned a "Classic Cobra"??
It does appear that there are few more CMC cars than I first counted and I will amend the post.
Perhaps we can get the data a little clearer next month in our membership cleanup. Are you on the TCC web membership roster? I could not fine a Neil or CobraDude. If not, e-mail me your info and I will add to the roster.

Dick,
I should be on there. I used to be registered as "anil", but re-registered as "Cobra Dude" recently. I sent Brent Mills an email about how to switch the ID, but didn't get a response so I just went ahead and re-registered the new ID.
So here's my info -- Cobra is a CMC with a Pratt & Witney jet engine. No suspension as cornering is handled by hidden rudders and ailerons. It also has a few concealed jet engines in each bumper exhausting upwards. These ensure that the tires are forced to the ground so that it looks like a normal car when driving (wouldn't want to freak out people on the street!). Also, there are smoke generators in the rear wheel wells that get triggered when the vehicle is stopped or slow and engine thrust is high. This gives the effect of a nice smoky burnout. And then of course, sidepipes are really re-designed Bose speakers/subwoofers that play a dynamically-altered MP3 of a big V8.
Those of you who read "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" may understand a piece of this.
So seriously -- what info do you need? Some info in my sig, but let me know what else you need.
BTW, perhaps this John guy has a hybrid. No, I'm not kidding -- I've heard of people who did not get a body from CMC and had to buy it from another kit company and retrofit to the CMC chassis.
Must get to sleep....
-Neil.
