Thanks Larry, Mine is already done and waiting to be shipped back. I started looking for someone to paint it the first of the year, but everyone I talked to was at 20k or better. Jeff Miller has definitely helped me out and put down an amazing paint job!!

If they didn't strike problems, then they were way ahead with their profit.
What if you ask the painters (those you know will give you the quality you want) what their hourly rate is, and if they will do the job based on cost of materials and hours worked? That can work out very well for you, and the quick turnaround for your paint job might amaze you.
Cheers,
Glen

Glen, thanks for the reply, all the shops I spoke with were pretty firm on the 20k prices. I have no regrets of sending it to California to be painted by Jeff. He has a great reputation and the price of paint and shipping is significantly less than all the quotes I got here! Hope to meet you soon!

I'm going into the paint business.
$20k for a fiberglass body, 2 doors, trunk and hood - that is INSANE!

Yep, I think I'll paint mine in my driveway myself. I'm going to drive the hell out of it anyway, its only a fiberglass hotrod playtoy, not a concours rare bugatti.

X2 and bears repeating. Unless you want a microscopically perfect show car finish, that is absolutely ridiculous!

FYI: I was quoted $5-6k here in north Texas at the place I previously recommended, and they have done a ton of fiberglass cobras, daytona coupes, as well as real, original cobras and other authentic classic and vintage cars. steel, aluminum, and glas.

That price is fair.
I have seen many shops (not just paint) and to be honest done so myself on occasion, that will price themselves out of the market to avoid doing certain jobs for one reason or another. A lot easier than just saying no sometimes.

Give Michael Grubbs a call at Grubbs motorsports. He is our specialist in Dallas for all things Cobra. He usually has a half dozen of our Cobras in his shop at a time. I have seen his paint work and its very nice. Tell him Don Wallace sent you and your in the Texas Cobra Club.

Just curious.....Is the price that high because is a complete prep work? If all the prep work is done at home and they just lay down paint and stripes, would it be much cheaper
