Default Hydrogen-powered Cobra

Let's see... there's DV's 10-cyl, that 12-cyl Ferrari-engined Cobra on Ebay, and now this... http://www.clemson.edu/research/brooks/hydrogen/

Looks like Carroll Shelby is in on it too.

Cheers.

Cool ERA600HP's Car

Don't forget about Tom's car...it is powered by methane. Well, that is what it smells like anyway.

Question

I wonder how much methane pressure Tom has to produce to his two carbs.

Agree -- the V10 is really sweet. I keep wondering about that pic -- is the nose lengthened?

I like this pic better, though (Tilt nose)

I thought hydrogen doesn't burn. How the hell do you burn hydrogen? Are they using H to boost another fuel?

I think that the Hindenburg was filled with hydrogen because it is cheaper to produce than helium. That was a major factor in why it burned so quickly. Hydrogen is flamable, while helium will extinguish a flame.

Lightbulb Joe Z....

Are you thinking of helium? (Inert, does not burn)

Hydrogen is highly flammable, it was what gave lift to the early zepplins, until several famous disasters/expolsions occured. Hydrogen is the ultimate fuel, since it exists in great quanties almost everywhere in the universe.

If it's speed they are looking for, why would they use a Cobra? Max speed is what? Upper hundreds? It's not the most aerodynamic car on the block! I wonder if thats the reason Shelby went with the Daytona & GT-40?

Catch ya later

I'm not ultimate speed is what they're looking for -- just a major improvement over existing fuels, so they probably could use most any vehicle for the testing.
