OK! Let's have some excitement for our HCC March 16, 2002 meeting! This is open to other TCC members also. Let's show up with a lot of Cobras.
You got the Cobra (It's big and bad!); or you are in the middle of building one (It will be big and bad!); or you are still deciding on which Cobra to buy or build (Still deciding how big and bad!); or it is on your wish list (It will be the biggest and baddest!). We have all the talk. Now let's really put the pedal to the metal and GO RACE go-karts (rain or shine as we race indoors in air conditioning) (speeds 35 - 40 MPH this is fast when you are 1/2" off the ground and going full speed into a 90 degree right turn).
The date is March 16, 2002 at KartZone, 6111 Skyline, Houston, TX, 713 781-6363,
www.kartzone.net. I would suggest we try and show up at 10:45 am. Directions are Hwy. 59, Southwest Fwy, North on Fountain View, first street to left (West) is Skyline. Just past the 1st stop sign on left is KartZone. I would suggest you don't go in the first entrance between the orange and white checkered flags as it is a steep incline. Go in the second entrance. We will be inside the fenced area on the west side of the building. Since we are inside we will alternate on watching our Cobras.
I would appreciate your confirming as soon as possible as I would like to reserve some track times just for us. We will still be able to run as a group just may have to wait some. Naturally, I have to put up funds to reserve it. We will be alternating between kids times and us as from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday and Sunday they allow kids 8 -15 years of age and over 4' 6" tall to race with kids their own age. So you can bring your kids and let them race. Please confirm via email,
pwr@vonl.com, if you are serious about driving and I'll reserve some track time (Please tell me if you want to do 1 or 2 sessions. Also, provide me your name, nickname (for racing if you want) so I may get your racing license in advance in order to save time.)
The cost is $7 for a lifetime license. $20 for Arrive and Drive which is about 8 minutes and 15-18 laps (depending on how fast you really are). This is what I would suggest for the first time. Then if we really want to race then we can do an Arrive and Race which is a 5 lap qualifying heat and then we grind up and race for 8 minutes which is $30. I will tell you 2 sessions and you will feel what it is like to race. You will be like a whipped puppy. You may bring your own helmet. If not they have them but you need a Balacava (head sock basically) which is $2. They do provide racing suits. If you have not raced there before you will need to go through a drivers meeting. This is a lot of fun!
They also have 4 driving simulators for various famous race tracks of your choice. You can even race each other. This is fun also.
As far as food is concerned they have a menu of essentially hot dogs, Nachos, chili pies, and turkey/ham sandwiches, chips and soft drinks. We will have a meeting afterwards upstairs.
